I'll let Mark Webber, Brendan Hartley and Earl Bamber know your thoughts .
From my perspective it doesn't change a thing - the GT Dept. is the Motorsport Dept. PDK is optimal for motorsport, if the GT4 comes without PDK its not optimized for my required usage and as a consequence I won't be buying one. Nothing wrong with the manual but it doesn't offer what I want. Not interested in GT4CS as its LHD and can't be road registered. Ipso facto.
The ROW US view doesn't change the fact that 75% of GT3s were sold as PDK equipped vehicles and clearly many of those went to markets that are high profit centres.
I really don't think my request is particularly hard to justify.

I get what you are saying about the PDK for the street car to keep it more in line as a race car. However Porsche focus on building factory race cars for a large market of sanctioned race customers and road going GT cars for road only customers. . The in between is a very small market. They offer the street clubsport package to fullfill that in between.
Some folks take the "in between" cars and further develop them for one off make series.
You could always swap a PDK into a GT4 since you are already developing the car for your competition series. If the rules allow for it of course.
Porsche generally like to see the GT3RS with clubsport option used in motorsports when possible. Hence PDK only.

There will be no RS version of GT4 as there are enough variants of the Cayman line and the GT4 is their be all end all.

Your angles aren't the same. Look at the center of the needle... The GT4 the center is almost entirely exposed, where the Spyder is half concealed... Also the shift indicator is not the same.

My cars in for a service, ready Monday. Anyone else like to to try some different angle shots ?

Unless someone manages to replicate the exact angle on their car, the comparison is fairly inconclusive because we're only talking about the second digit and there isn't much difference at that point between 718 and 981 anyway. I would say 70/30 it's closer to 981 but wouldn't bet my life on it having looked at some similar-but-not-quite shots of the 718 dash at an angle.
What is certain, though, is that there will be no 9K RPM redline. 8K tops, which I suppose was expected anyway but good to be able to put at least one option to rest.

Possible but very unlikely. These cars are most probably exactly the way they're going to be sold, down to the white needles for the gauges.

I think he was trying to say - draw a horizontal line from the center of the tach across to the left - shows the 2 on the 718 is higher (to my eyes). Don’t think the angle would matter - but that’s why I’m not an engineer.

With that many very closely taken pictures of cars obviously on the move, the photographer (who realistically should be at least a little educated about cars) should be able to tell if there's a turbo 4 or an N/A 6 in that Spyder. It is really hard NOT to tell the difference, even on idle from 30-40m away...
