Funny. I remember reading a few similar comments about the 981 when it came out. "Rear end looks too busy" and "rear looks like it was abruptly chopped off" came to mind. I think they both look great.

Yeah, quiet is right. If you watch the pace, he/she was just cruising and short-shifting. Around 3 minutes or so, you could hear the roar from downshift blipping. That's a sign of what to expect from high RPM soundtrack. Due to Euro 5 regs on noise levels, I believe, they can't have PSE button; or something like that. So, I'm hoping RoW cars would sound better than euro version. I still think that they are holding back on the sound thing!

Agreed. Sounds turbo to me. Also makes sense why the driver didn't need to ring out the engine. He's pushing the car hard, but the engine has plenty of low end torque.

I like the rear lights on the 718. I think it looks more futuristic. That black line I am on the fence. Overall I think it's a more modern looking rear. But yeah that's my opinion and for me that's a good thing as I am ready to swap my Spyder out for the next gen version. It's good a lot of people don't like it which means they already got the car that they wanted!

In order to design the taillights to draw attention to them, they needed to move the reflective part into a separate piece, making the rear end unnecessarily busy.
