The massive flaw in Harris' argument is his simplistic leap of faith that Bangle was a genius because people copied him. Rather, that's the problem with design these days, it's all derivative, with everyone copying everyone else and nobody taking any risk whatsoever. It's particularly bad in the car industry, but it seems to be everywhere. It doesn't make his work any less awful. Bangle not only destroyed BMW's design philosophy, he let a genie out of the bottle that led to any number of awful copycat designs, particularly among the Japanese manufacturers. I'd love to see more manufacturers take risks rather than revert to the mean, especially when the mean they're reverting to is all kinds of Emperor's New Clothes awful that it's impact can be felt for such a long time.

I completely agree with you on the 992 but I like the 718 just as much as the 981. Looks a little more up to date.

 

Yes! Just look at the v10 generation bangled M5 & M6! Amazing drivetrains, they should be enthusiast "last of" kinds of cars but they are so sinfully ugly they are trading for peanuts. If they had just looked volvo boring they'd be future classics but that aggressive in your face terrible design murdered them and generations to come after. Generally I think aesthetics and design are highly personal and subjective but I'm personally upset that I can't own a $20k 500hp v10 8k rpm 6spd car because I can't look at one of those and hold back the vomit long enough to reach for my wallet.

OTOH, I do like some of the design elements of the 718...

 

Ok.. so back to Porsche discussion.... I think the 718 GT4 and Spyder look great too.

I would prefer NA for the engine and that is what it is supposed to be. Though I have to say, while I would hate a turbo 4 in those cars, the turbo 6 would be a hell of an engine.. especially from a mod standpoint... I would probably still buy it with that engine...
I just don't see it happening though.

That's a year after the CS car would of started racing (same car). I don't see this being the case. It may be a 2020 year car though

 

 

seems to share some content with one of the other vids. some newer stuff at the end maybe? In whatever configuration that is the car doesn't sound as good as the 981 imo.

I've also been told to not expect one in my garage til Q4 2019 at the earliest. If your dealer said to expect your car in early 2020, that seems about right. If the GT4 is announced in Geneva which is in March, the initial deliveries will be in Q2, with many of them being delivered over the next year.

 

I would expect to see the first street cars being available as 2019 models as early as March/April for USA. Earlier for Europe.
2022 for the GT4 after that. Assuming they are replaced every 3 years.
