If that's true, would they need a waiver if the street car is 4.0 and race is 3.8? How hard is it to get the waiver?

How does that engine change affect homologation?

I suspect it is the current GT4 motor but it's all very hush hush.

Not surprising. And expected.

I was told hot rodded 3.8 from current gt4 a few months ago but assumed it was stroked to 4.0 based on Whoopsy. The 3.8 makes sense in porsche hierarchy. Now the GT3 owners won’t have to hear from the gt4 guys that “we’ve got the same engine!”.

I wonder what all the magazines will say...considering they’ve been blasting that it’s getting a 4.0 from the GT3 for the better part of a year.

I gotta say the car looks meaner and purposeful. Need to do a side by side comparison of the current GT4 with the 718 GT4. I for one like what I am seeing. 420 hp sounds perfect!

In a way I can understand the 3.8 + x51. IIRC correctly the PDK used in those cars was somewhat torque limited by PAG stds (don't care that aftermarket used it in higher applications) - might handle stroked 3.8 to 4.0. The x51 seemed to raise the hp and didn't touch the torque much. So since these cars are supposed to be a "cheap" entry into racing compared to cups it makes sense going that route. For the street car it would also keep the price point/increase reasonable.

I bet the production version will look ok and provide a good deal more downforce.

Pics and vids look great.

Hope the specs match.

PDK would be a great bonus.
