Why is it that you think anyone other than 918 owners will get any cars beyond the regular GT3 anymore? Porsche, along with dealer gouging, have made it so normal people can no longer acquire their cars. What do you think the markup on a 960 will be? That said, for that money, will it even be as fast as a Viper ACR, or whatever the new Corvette ZR1 will be? Personally, I think the value prop on Porsche (non-supercars) begins and ends with the GT3.

What are they up to? Simple.... Selling a new model and likely selling through, for $200+k that costs them $40k to produce with development costs rolled in sounds like a good business model to me.

If the production target of 4,000 cars is true, I'm not sure it will be hard to get one at MSRP. The 918 VIP's only have preference for Limited Edition cars, so I see no reason why the 960 would be limited (though some lightweight GT version may qualify for that).

Default 2019 Porsche 960

Not sure if this has already been shared. I just read about the 8 cylinder Porsche 960 arriving in 2019. Mid-engined, possibly AWD, but as close to a 928 as they have gotten in modern times. And I can safely assume out of my price range.

Me too Mark. Plus I'd love to hear that flat-8 blasting down the road, although the turbos might muffle it.

I still think Mercedes made the 928 of modern times (AMG GTS). This is a nice hommage to it though, but more toward the 908 in my opinion.

Agreed Mongo. And sadly, or happily for us, I just don't imagine a NA 8 cylinder Porsche coupe ever coming back.

Wait until MY'21 for the bugs to get worked out, then, in 2023 pick-up a CPO coming off of a two year lease.

Start saving those pennies.... err... $100 bills.

4000 seems pretty high. Are they going to build a new factory? Are they going to stop building all other GT cars?

The 918 exclusive program will expire before the release of the 960, so that's not a concern. The car will be a normal production car, not a limited edition (likely assumption). I guess it'll be produced in no less numbers than the Huracan or 488, if not double. So anyone with the cash in hand can get in line to order one during its production years cycle.

As for the ACR or ZR1, I know looks are subjective, but these two are invisible next to the beauty or the GT3 RS IMHO.

I guess it wouldnt be released until the 992 models are in full swing....
The production will have to be enough units to make it worth while and boost overall sales of the brand as a whole to keep the board happy.
Price point being more then a Turbo S will make it a small volume seller but will get the foot in the door to the supercar market share. Might also make a great race car to campaign on the world stage.

Given emissions, it will have to have turbos whatever engine they decide. PDK too.
Weight will be a concern. Especially with AWD. They would have to use magnesium and carbon fiber body panels like that of the RS to keep weight down (and as result, price up).

2 seater every day super car within financial reach of their current GT customer base. Not a bad concept.

I think it is possible.
And I think i would be a customer.

I've read Internet 960 pre-estimate starting MSRP's ranging from $200K to $450K. Of course that doesn't include delivery, tax, DMV, 1 or 2 shiny license plates, sunglasses.....and a couple trillion OPTIONS! I've also heard from my SA as well as RL that the 918 VIP program will have ended by then and that waiting lists have been ongoing for approximately 1 year!
