Just found out they've repaved the Dragon!

Drove it today- felt like silk asphalt with tires made of velcro. If you thought it was great before, you've got to go back. Just get up there early (or on a weekday) if you want traffic to look like this.

Yeah it's been in the works for a while.
We went up not to long ago but was up there at night in the dark.
So we kept it chill.

Seems a bit more narrow but could just be an illusion with the new lines.

Heard there was a death today (lady on a trike) and another motorcycle with bad injuries.

Woah. Didn’t know that. I did one run and done. Traffic gets too crazy after 9am.

However!!! Be VERY careful going over the mustard like that man. They Will CRUCIFY YOU on the "Fail of the Dragon" Facebook page and others with pics of you and your car!!!

The touching and esp. crossing the mustard is a HUGE no no to them!! lol

Might want to check out that FB page and the reg. TOTD Facebook page and see all the pics they post of people crossing... the rip them hard!!

I hear ya. The camera makes it look much more exaggerated. I try to stay off it as much as possible.

Saw in the GT4 forum a guy was hit by a bike on FR711 off Wayah Rd. Great bit of pavement but extremely isolated. Obvious bike on the other side.

I agree on them camera angle. It does sometimes make it seem worse than it is.
It's easy to get sucked in when there's obviously nobody coming.

I made a post a while back educating all the haters of people cutting the mustard because she posted a pic of a cop doing it.
As an officer for over 18 years and an EVOC driving instructor, I educated them on the fact that we / police / troopers are all
trained on cutting the mustard on certain corners where there's a clear view of the next apex during a chase.
The haters on social media act like people who do it are murderers or something. I'm NOT saying everyone has the skill set to
do it or should anyone, but I did want them to know that Law Enforcement do get trained on chasing / pursuits and what to do and when.
So crossing the mustard isn't a sin for some.

This might show some of my old mustard cutting - and in the right environment

Gotta love Road A and especially Barber M.P.

I used to do track days on my R1's. Early-Mid 2000's. Bike and Tire tech has gotten SO much better since then though.
Of course my bike was completely Stock, with the exception of a Penske 2 way shock and sprung / valved forks for my heavy weight (275 lbs. in leathers, at the time).

Doing an organized drive in the morning if anyone is interested.

Meeting a group in Dahlonega at 0945 for the drivers meeting in front of the Gold Museum on the square.

Will probably be 10 cars or so.

Today I did an Oil and Filter Change (36,618 miles) and then swapped over to my New to me, Sport Classic Wheels with brand new Cup 2's on them.
Few pics...... I LOVE the looking of the Sport Classics.

I’m up at the dragon today and will be heading home to Dahlonega this afternoon.

While the dragon is smooth, there’s still a lot of oil coming out of the fresh pavement. Tires were squealing a lot more than normal. But it’s consistent and predictable, so once you dial in your rhythm, it’s fun.
