I injured my left hand badly yesterday (opening a present at my son's bday party) so i won't be able to race this week. I hope it heals quickly.

Hope you guys have a good practice/race. Barber is a great track.

See you guys tonight.

I predict a bit of the same frustration at Barber as at Sonoma, due to all the unloading of the nose...

Stupid question, but I think these hosted races don't change your iRating and Safety score, right? These are more just for "fun"?

I was having a great race last night trying to keep Doug behind and following Bedo about 3 seconds back. Then the dreaded black screen hit and I was out. I hopefully didn't collect anyone on my way off the track. I can still steer and hear the audio and I didn't hear any smashing sounds. It's the virtual version of the hood pins letting go! I think the more recent changes to the tire have helped out a bit as I didn't see such a dramatic dropoff after 2 laps and the front end bite wasn't awful. What happened to you Jim? Did you lose it under braking on the downhill? I saw a couple puffs of smoke and a spinning car in my mirror.

I've tried everything to get the black screen resolved, but I think it's time to initiate a warranty claim with Nvidia. I tried underclocking my card last night and that still didn't work. The temperature seems to stay well in the operating window, so I don't know what's up.

Yeah... got on late, didn't really get comfortable. Erm, "domestic issues" prefaced my venture downstairs. When I did boot the PC it tried taking all kinds of updates... and I've noticed, with Win10, when updates are running, iRacing performance tanks. Lots of screen freezes. Fought with the machine to first try to cancel the updates, then tried to manually force the updates... then after a few reboots got the updates to pause. Machine still acted goofy. Finally got signed in but was flustered and irritated by then. Never got up to speed really in practice.

When the race started, I spun in 5 on the first lap. Got rolling again, few turns later, lost it, hit the armco, car toast.

Wait for tow, free fix... but crap... forgot to uncheck the pit options. Sat there another 50 seconds taking on 20 gal of fuel and new tires. Roll out of the pits, make it to T3, lost it - wall. Car bent again.

I quit after that. Watched some of the battle up front, but eventually logged out and shut it down.

I love Barber in real life but in the sim I always have issues. We were there a few months ago, in the RUF... and I managed to take myself out of that race, un-aided, too.

Sorry I didn't make it, had other things going. Justin, the last time I raced I started having the same problems with the headset going black, but if I took them off I can see everything is still going just fine.
Rebooted my computer but haven't had a chance to really test it again to see if it happens again.

A couple of questions...
What Nvidia card? (purchase date too, there was a bad batch)
What Driver?
Do you have Nvidia inspector?
Are you using HDMI or DVI?

I just got a 1070 card for my downstairs machine and was having all sorts of black screen issues on W10. Rolled back my driver to one I know works with my Titan upstairs I wanna say 376.33, made sure my HDMI was 2.0 set Nvidia Inspector to Max Performance and Single Monitor whereas it defaults to power save and all my issues are gone...

Picked it up at the end of Dec.
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition, 8GB GDDR5, LED, DX12 OSD
Don't know the driver, Nvidia inspector - no, HDMI for the headset and DVI for the monitor.

I'm in Bloomingdale. So I love it when you guys do the Autocrosses in Schaumburg. I'm the one in the blue C5 Z06.
My dad sometimes participates in a black 72 911. Way more street setup then Joe's brown early 911. Though my dad just picked up a 09 Cayman S from Portland and he thinks I should drive his Cayman instead of the Z06 for one of the events this coming season.
