DK2 in iRacing is awesome, there is no doubt about that. Jim suggested I get a newer card to drive my rift, which I might go ahead and do tomorrow since Microcenter is fairly close to me. Maybe a 770+ card will make a difference; maybe MSI or EGVA or whatever brand is available for reasonable price.
As for head tracking, do not want. There is enough going on with the movement that I would not want to move forward or backward.
As most have already said, the resolution of the OLED panel is really the thing that is the next biggest step for this to be a "killer" product.

I have a GTX770. Bought it from Best Buy back in ~January, it was ~$300. Works great, no complaints. Didn't notice any dips or framerate issues last night with the DK2 in iRacing either and I have just about everything turned up, graphics-wise.
I imagine once CV1 comes out, there will be a need for a heavier-hitting card, but I'll worry about that then. Hopefully by then, iRacing will be DX-11 as well, which should also help improve framerates.

Hey Gator - just read in the forums that apparently if you "Press any key" when the blue safety warning pops up on the screen when you first jump into a session, it ALSO does a "center HMD" command.
So if you're looking down (like, say, at your keyboard) when you hit a key, THAT becomes your new "center".
Shawn Nash's tip is to just leave the message up.

Don't touch a key or the mouse while the Health and Safety Warning is displayed. Once the Warning disappears on its own the HMD will be perfectly centered no matter what orientation the HMD is in when it disappears. I've never had to use the re-center key after letting this happen on its own.

IMO positional tracking just makes it feel more natural. I didn't think it'd make a difference until I tried it in LFS. Not HUGE (and can certainly live without it) but IMO just that little bit that helps push things to the next level. I expect it'll be out in the next build, 8 weeks from now.

All of this seems like it is q black art from the iracing programming aide, which seemw odd to me

What kind of lap times are you guys running at Watkins Glen? I'm about to hop back into the Ruf for the first time since our last season ended, lol. Sounds like I will have some setup work to do.
Looking forward to Wednesday

With the rift.....6 minutes LOL.
I was able to get my GTX 970 based card installed, and it definitely made a difference, but there is still some tearing and the blurriness comes in with more than really slow head movement. Will need to do some research on additional settings I can try, and I doubt my CPU/motherboard combination is holding me back. The blurriness is totally expected, I just hope I can get rid of some of the tearing.

Greetings, All:
New "old" member here. I used to race rFactor PCC2007 GT3's online with some of you guys, which ended for me when my hot (then new) Win7 PC packed it in. Hasn't been nearly as much fun since, and I'd like to get back into again this winter.
So has the core group moved over to iRacing or are they possibly racing rFactor2 instead (I bought a lifetime membership there day one)?
Need to know where I should focus my time and effort in getting back up to speed. Thanks for any help.
---
Unrelated, but...I bought myself a "new" used '99 Boxster Base about two months back, so instead of merely "looking in from outside the candystore window" I'm really back on the inside again--after more than thirty years. Huge fun already, although it'll be less fun paying to fix the broken folding top I knew I was buying along with the car.
But wrenching it should be edumacational.
