Rennlist iRacing thread
Mom sez it is in the 60s in Florida about now, so West Palm isn't such a bad place to be I guess. At least I will be warm while you all are racing. I am also going to NYC for the weekend, so I won't have much time to practice Road America. Maybe I can host something on Monday night. The pit exit there is bonkers.
Car#56 Light blue, black and white... I still haven't figured out how to drive properly... I'm making mistakes after mistakes... My best time so far at Mosport: 1:20.3.
I'm trying to use the 944 technique I'm using in real life: brake early, throttle early...

I need that!!! All you guys beware, I'm braking early!!!

And speaking of braking early...

Everybody (and I mean EVERYBODY) is going WAY faster into 8 than I am. I'm worried I'm going to cause an accident here. Seems everybody stays flat through the first apex, THEN brakes?
I can't figure it out but it's very noticeable how quickly everybody WALKS from me on the entry into 8. I tried a couple different things going through it and couldn't figure it out.
How I do it (and it seems wrong?)... I'm in 6th down the back straight. Hit the brakes right where the track gets dark (extra rubber?), down 2 gears to 4th and turn in. I don't touch the curbing on the first apex (stay out wide) but am back to WOT through the 2nd apex and exit it late... just enough time to tap the brakes, roll through 9, also exiting late, then down a gear and through 10.
Everybody will put 5-6 car lengths or more on me entering 8 though. Though I'm usually back on their butt by the exit of 10.
I did get down to a 17.4 using my method, and can run consistent high 17s, low 18s this way... but I'm worried I'm going to get rear-ended here.
Jim, I tap the brakes and go down to 5th into eight, back on throttle, and then down to 4th going through 9.
My biggest problem is coming out of 5 with enough speed. Everyone seems to be passing me in Mario's straight.

I'm up for that, the more practice the better.
Turn 8 is tricky. I've been trying to focus on running a tight line and carrying as much speed as possible, tending to use trail braking. IMO, Turn 8 really rewards a stable setup, at least with my driving style (trail braking).

FYI: They are pushing an update at 10pm tonight, included in this update is the fix for the Ruf Track gearbox!

EDIT: I read it wrong, it should have been updated at 10AM, so tonight we should have the new gearbox.
