Default Bought a new 2021 Autel MaxiCOM MK906BT Diagnostic Scanner from Amazon.

Just bought a new 2021 Autel MaxiCOM MK906BT Diagnostic Scanner from Amazon.

Will be playing with it over the next couple of months and years on my 2019 Cayenne S.

I confirmed that it can reset the oil/maintenance interval.

Need to find more information and/or try out the Advanced ECU Coding, Active Tests, OE-Level All Systems Diagnostics & 31 Services, etc. features of this scanner.

Anybody know about any good features to try on this diagnostic scanner on our Cayennes?

You could have spent ~$1,000 less and picked up the Autel MX808. It resets the oil/maintenance just like that one.

I had owned two Mercedes SUVs, and I enjoyed monitoring live data, troubleshooting/fixing my vehicle issues, and using other simpler OBDII scanner features. But, many features where not supported for German brands.

This Autel scanner seem to have good support for German sports vehicles, but it is going to take some time to see the extents of the Porsche support.

I was hoping somebody in this forum had some handy/useful insights on the Autel product support for the 2019 Porsche Cayenne S.

What does the Autel MK906BT do that the Autel MX808 doesn’t to justify the $1,000 premium aside from Bluetooth?

I guess the BT feature is cool. You definitely don’t want to be in the driver’s seat when you activate the ejector seats in the garage.

I am very satisfied with my MK906BT purchase, price, performance, screen resolution, coding option, and the additional provided accessories.

I just need to play around with it and see what features work on my Cayenne S, and if I can modify any annoying default options.

Will post if I find anything worth mentioning..

I hate that thing specially when backing up or doing a U turn and you need to put it on R to complete the turn and the thing shuts off

I have never had a car with stop start that shuts the engine off whilst the car is still coasting to a stop. I have set the “individual” mode to turn off the stop start and activate the sports exhaust. On the very odd occasion I want the suspension stiffened up but the engine mode standard, I just use the suspension setting..easy

I have read that some use the individual setting to keep start stop off. Is this only with sport chrono? Anyway, if it works, that is cheaper than buying a $1100 tool to code it out. I have sport chrono but have not played with individual settings. I wanted to buy a fairly high level scan tool anyway for automotive work since I work on my cars, so I will use this tool for a lot more than just coding one thing.

Glad you asked. I overheard a Porsche sales rep (a sales rep!) telling his client that she didn’t have Individual Mode because, “she should have ordered the Sport Chrono package.” Well, that just pissed me off because he was trying to shame her so I jumped right into the conversation and corrected him. I explained how she could configure and save the Individual mode in the PCM and then activate it by pressing the button on the console to the right of the shifter.

He said, “There’s no Drive Mode buttons on the console.” to the wrong guy! I explained that while the buttons may be disabled with the Sport Chrono package, they are activated for use in vehicles without Sport Chrono. I pulled out my iPad and showed him this diagram in the owner’s manual (pictured, below) and went on to answer all the lady’s questions which he previously could not. He ultimately apologized and offered me a job. 😎

Bottom three buttons deactivated yet still visible under bright light.

If individual mode does not need to be activated and just turns on automatically each time you get in the car, then that is all anyone needs to do. If you still have to press a button, then it really is not doing any more for start stop than if you simply turn off start stop each time you get in the car. I have never messed with half the electronics in my car.

That’s a great point pbon. The *** defaults to ON each time you start the engine. Check out this post for a possible solution (in bold text).

After starting, I habitually rotate the Sport Chrono **** one click to Individual Mode — ACC Off and PSE On. Note that my vehicle will occasionally forget the Individual settings. I just reset and save.

There is modification you may wish to consider. T-Design makes a memory module for Cayennes equipped with Sport Chrono. It remembers the last Drive Mode you had selected; whether it be Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, or in your case, Individual.

Here’s a link the the site. In the drop-down menu, select “All models with IOSS + ****”
