IS SPORTS EXHAUST WORTH THE COST
NEW CAYENNE OWNERS PLEASE ADVICE .
Looking at the Cayenne is the SPORTS EXHAUST worth the additional price on Cayenne.
Yes it’s good on a 911 but on the Cayenne what’s the difference on sound .
Plus have noticed a lot of current stock with Standard Black Tailpipes .
Naturally on a Turbo you need but on a Base or S ??
Many thanks

Honestly I feel that those cars have so much insulation that unless you have a very loud aftermarket exhaust you’re not gonna hear much anyway, especially if you have the thermal glass.

It is really personal preference. I really like the feel of the driving experience but I also like good music when I drive so I plan on getting the insulated glass and Burmester. Will still be as fast.

Unless you love driving with your windows down in parking garages, I think it is a waste of $ (especially on a SUV). Just another example of Porsche maximizing their profit margin with expensive options. Personally, I wanted my Cayenne to be a quiet highway/suburban cruiser that wasn't going to wear me out after a long drive. But if you want to impress people outside of the car, then by all means get it.

Ask ten people, you'll get ten different answers. It's like debating whether Quartzite Grey is a "better" color than Carrara White.
Custom-ordering any Porsche is an exercise in individuality. What are your priorities with the car? Sound, particularly, is entirely a subjective thing. What "sounds" good to one person is annoying to another.
The quick gist of our OPINION is that buying any Porsche without PSE would be like being best friends with Scarlett Johannson. You'll get to have much of the fun her husband does, but that bastard with the ring on his finger is seeing and hearing all the really good stuff that'll you'll never, ever, EVER know.
Again, this is an OPINION. Take it for what it's worth. My wife and I are visceral people, so that colors our view significantly on this question.
The only fact I can give you is this: You can hear all the fun ruckus of PSE inside the car just fine, thank you, with the windows rolled up. That's half the point.

Since we are stating opinions here.....here is mine. I think that PSE on a Cayenne is out of character as to what the car is. It is a Sport Utility Vehicle and drives like a Sport Utility Vehicle, emphasis on Sport as the other brands, IMHO, are simply Utility Vehicles, period. Porsche may have made the best driving SUV but it is still an SUV. It does not make any sense to me to opt for PSE on an SUV. It does make sense on a sport car like the 911 or 718 series. Those are Sport cars and the exhaust sound can be considered part of the character of that vehicle (just ask those who lament the 4 cylinder move from the 6 cylinder engine). However, like JCW...stated, it's an opinion there is no right or wrong answer.

Like you said yes its needed on the turbo. Otherwise it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Well not that bad but not like a $170,000 SUV should. I had it on my 2019 and it sounded great, ordered it on my 2020 coupe as well. Other brands have better sound and the stock turbo sound is a C+ IMO. The PSE kicks it up to A where it should be.
