Default Sport Pedal DIY Install Tip

For those of you like me who have the base cayenne and want to upgrade to the AL sport pedals. The accelerator/gas pedal cover is truly a PITA to install. It is almost impossible to have the stiff rubber undercuts on the pedal cover to snap over the pedal edges with the limited space in the footwell along with some busted knees and elbows. After an hour of no progress, frustration, and physical pain, I gave up on this method.

The only way to it, for me, was to remove the gas pedal module(held on by one machine torx screw and a plastic hook), install the cover, and reassemble the gas pedal module to the car. Another tip I'd like to add to make a bit easier to slip on is to lube the cover inner edges and pedal outer edges with dielectric silicone paste, I use the 3M version. Be sure not to use any petrol/oil based lubricants as it may attack/degrade the plastic on gas pedal module and cause premature plastic cracking/crazing.

I also did that upgrade and after struggling with the gas pedal (brake was easy), I took a blow dryer, warmed the rubber and it went right on super easy with no mess.

Thanks for the tip, @GulfCoaster ! Do these pedals serve any functional benefit besides aesthetics? They grip better than the stock?

I cannot tell any difference in the grip or lack of, just purely cosmetic....I think they look good, even if I am the only one that notices

Any other tips on getting the accelerator pedal cover on? Can anyone that succeeded let me know exactly in which direction and angle they managed to make this thing fit? I think I have tried every angle and heating with a hairdryer etc. Nothing is working. The tolerance is so tight. I am sure there has to be a logical sequence (which corner edge first etc.) to make this work. Please help. Haha.

If I remember correctly, after heating the rubber, I quickly connected the top and left side first, then stretch by pulling down and pushing at the same time to cover the bottom and right side. You will need to use your fingers to grab under the lip to get started then push. The biggest problem is the awkward position you have to get yourself in!

Hello guys, just a quick question, Do these apply over the stock normal black rubber pedals? or do you actually have to remove the stock ones and replace them with the sport pedals?

You have to remove the old ones which is easy. Getting new ones on, not so much. My sport "gas" pedal never quite made it on 100% but its' been fine.

The brake pedal was easy, 5 minute job, however, I just couldn't do it with the accelerator pedal.
I had to remove the accelerator pedal, just one screw, then it's a breeze
