Transfer case

Where's the plug? On the unit?
I'm at a test site for work and there is a 958 S which just had it's TC done. Holy **** I didn't realize how bad mine was as it was the only one I'd driven until now, this thing is smooth which is double impressive as it spent the first half of its life as a test car.
I changed the fluid in my TC but not much improvement. As mine is a 2011 unless people have had luck with a nice letter to Porsche in the past, I guess it's time to buy a new one

Yes, there is an electrical connector to the transfer case stepper motor. You'll get a yellow error message on the dash but you'll be able to tell immediately if there is a difference.
I left the connector unhooked on mine for weeks before my first transfer case rebuild some years ago. No issues. Plug it back in if you want the error message to go away.

Yes... and I did the first fluid change at this 120k mark preventively. The wear integrator was at 138 kWh ... not even at the 145 limit yet. Highest wear integrator value I've seen so far.
So you can get a rebuilt transfer case from OEM suppliers for $2K which is nice:

And Porsche has done remanufactured stuff for a long time, like with the M96 engine program.

I also brushed up on the rebuilds. Seems to be about $700 in parts and a bit more in depth than simply swapping it out. What I've not worked out is whether you need to program the car to a new TC. I assume it's an obvious yes so no ones talking about it.

PSM does not appear to be disabled when doing so, so the stability management should still be in place, given that its mostly wheel braking anyway. Its unclear to me if the unplugged position is simply zero power directed to front diff or whether its just some set amount. Probably zero.
Either way, my car drove fine without the tc connected

hi Cayenne gurus - I have a CPO 2016 Porsche Cayenne which I bought from a Porsche dealer in March 2020. I also bought the Platinum CPO extended warranty for an additional 4 years/48k miles on the car. I recently started seeing the dreaded transfer case symptoms.
Question is does the CPO Platinum warranty cover TC problems? Has anyone got TC problem addressed using this CPO extended warranty?
Thanks!

Porsche CPO has two levels of warranty - Powertrain and Platinum. Platinum covers everything in Powertrain plus electrical problems.

Bhai as far i recall porsche NA had extended a 10 year blanket warranty on TC. do ask your dealer about the specific TC warrenty

Even if the warranty has expired, Porsche makes some concessions if the owner of the car is still the original person who bought the car, but since my car is CPO, they asked me to take a hike. Fortunately, I bought Platinum extended warranty paying almost $6k when I bought the Cayenne used from a dealer, I am hoping this will help me.
thanks to everyone that responded, warm regards.

TC warranty was extended to 7 years by Porche, but the date of warranty even for new car owners is not when the car was sold, but when it was manufactured which is about a year earlier. My car was sold to the original owner in 2016, manufacturing year was 2015. So that warranty has expired.
