ok received may hood insulator. Came with no clips. Paid $110.18 and another $11.30 in tax for grand total of $121.48. Called Carid and was told that they would send the clips and now received an email stating that the insulator does not come with the clips. I can get the clips for .38 each from Marin and just found out that I can get the part for $103.79. WTF!.
I'm returning the hood insulator to Carid and ordering the whole Kit & Kaboodle from Porsche Marin. Will also taks the opportunity to get a few new Porsche badges from them also.
Ninja Edit: just did some research. They have two available. One is $107.31 and the other one is $142.12. My part number refelcts the $142 part but I paid $110.18. That price is no longer on their website and I just ordered it a few weeks ago.
$107 Hood Insulator
$142.12 Hood Insulator

I noticed when I changed the oil a couple of weeks ago that I am missing 2 of the grommets that hold the engine cover on. Not sure where they are or where they went. I hope they arent stuck somewhere down alongside engine where they could get hot/melt.
Is that the "clips"you ar talking about?
I wonder if I could just order the grommets

Maybe RAudi could post up the part number, wouldn't hurt to keep a couple of spares.
Maybe a dab of rtv on the back side will keep the from popping off. That's what I did to keep my wheel center caps from spinning.

My bad,
Looked back at the pictures on previous posts. I was confusing the hood insulation pad with the engine cover. My engine cover has quite a bit of insulation on underside , hence the confusion.
sorry
learn something new every day

Ohhh ok, I just checked my hood insulation clips and they are all there and still tight. I could see with the heat cycling and hanging upside down that they could fail at some point. I'm sure if you don't mess with them they will last. Time will tell.
