If you remove the PCM BT connection, then you need to be in AUX. If you restore the PCM BT connection, it will work no matter where you are.

The only issue that this creates is that if you have PCM BT connection on, and you have steering wheel controls, when you receive a call and press the steering wheel control phone button, then the call goes into hold, and then you’ll need to press it again. The work around, press the steering wheel “enter” button on the right. Or just press the phone button on the PCM (which do not have this issue).

Would these be 50 and 25 pin flat cable ? Anyone ordered replacements ? Better quality ?

Oh I didn't know about this! Thanks for sharing, for the moment I'll leave it as is, I don't use the CD drive at all, so I'll just leave them inside.

Only issue could be if someone , forces a CD in……it will cut the ribbon and your PCM will be dead….till you order new cables from China.
maybe get a set on hand ….just in case…..

I had no idea you could predict things. I was chatting with my wife about how I was unable to remove the CDs and she presses the eject button, out came the CD. So we ejected all 5 of them and so far so good, at least until the last CD. Then everything went south The PCM showed an error message regarding mechanical drive failure, and then the screen went blank. I restarted the PCM and now I have a hazy screen and can't read anything on the screen. Radio works, but it looks like the screen cable is gone?! I'm now looking to get two or three sets of these cables, so where can I buy those? Never thought I'll have to re-open the PCM again sigh!!

Someone’ posted this eBay link a while back……it seems if we can figure out the specs…..you can get them cheap.
I do not know of anyone who has ordered these replacements yet.

Thank you, I did see this link but had no idea what to order. I reached out to Kimi at iSudar to see if they can send it a pair or two of these replacement cables. I'm so disappointed that it was so short-lived. shouldn't have touched the CD's at all, hopefully it didn't destroy the display board or anything on the PCM

I’ll bet that you pinched the ribbon cable…..between the cd slot inside and the main pcm chassis …….and that it has dislodged a ribbon inside the PCM. I think you will be fine with new cables, and clear routing.

You could take it apart…and may be able to fix it……. But having new ribbons on hand would be good.

EDIT: just realized your PCM3.1 is different to mine ……mine only holds 1 CD. None the less….it’s a cabling problem I bet.

Thanks for the encouragement, I think that may be the case. I'll still open it and check on the weekend hopefully, and by then I should have some guidance on what cables to order. Amazon has a bunch of them, but obviously, I don't know what to order. I also tried to zoom into this link to see what to order but wasn't successful. With my buggy eyes…….I count 50 and 30 conductors. Someone needs to verify that .
it is the “Forward” style needed as well from what I can tell, again, no expert here.
length can be whatever is needed I guess
