Summer wheels and tyres went on over lunchtime, the winters that came off have date code 3813 (!) so they definitely won't be going on next winter. Plus, two of them are under 2.0mm tread depth across the center with no sipe divisions left along the centertread blocks and as such are under-spec for winter tyres even though they are still technically road legal. The Michelin Latitude Sports that are back on now are 2019 tyres and have more than enough tread to keep me happy for the upcoming season. Both sets of wheels are OEM SportDesign II 20" wheels. I'll put new winters on over the next few months when (if) the price drops a bit for the Porsche-certified Pirellis I want.

There's a possibility we will be going for a hypermarket visit to France tomorrow, that allows me to take advantage of the 30c/litre price difference for SP98 fuel, and we usually go via Germany. Hopefully the ~5km of derestricted Autobahn will not be crowded at the time of our transit, as I'm no longer limited by the 240kph winter tyre rating..

What did you do to your 958 today?

Parked it...until I can get it my indy to get on it. (The dealer is over a month out for appointments).

The CS decided to **** out all its coolant on the street and garage floor.

Finally dropped it of at the shop and they say it's the tubes under the manifold. $1358 to repair...next week. Damn.

On a 958? I thought they fixed the coolant pipes under the manifold for us. Are you sure it's not that dreaded coolant water distributor hose piece that's not really secured very well or whatever?

I'm just going by what the indy told me. He might have used the wrong terminology. Either way, it is an expensive fix.

there are some very cheap plastic vent lines under there - replaced mine about a year and a half ago - not much $$$ for parts but it did take me awhile, so labor is the cost - doable yourself, if you have the time and inclination - nothing actually hard, just lots of removing and replacing - now if it's the thermostat housing glue connections or the glued in one behind the engine there's a lot more $$$ to be paid labor and part wise

Yes, the part is $50-60, and this vent line has certainly reached its age limit on the 958.1: anyone with a 958 V8 who has not replaced it, should... before it strands you!

Installed the Fabspeed cat bypass pipes... besides the rusted bolts, was pretty straight forward. my GTS sounds pretty insane now in sport mode!

is there a well to tell exactly which parts these are? I see a few different ones.

I did change the cabin filter... it was FILTHY!! made a big difference in airflow in AC. I need to get a rim repaired that was slightly dented and then balance and alignment before I drive it back to Wyoming.

Installed smoked LED front side markers after learning about the trick using fishing line to grab around the marker light to pull it out... technique worked great and saved a lot of time.
