That's how I do it too. I don't trust those tire shops jacking my car in the air or installing with an air gun to 300lbs of torque.

If I ever have to change a tire by the side of the road, I have one part figured out (and I carry my own Viair compressor in addition to the stock one. Those scissors jacks never impressed me...hope I don't have to ever use it.

The regular summer tire has been losing a pound or two a day, with no obvious leak sources, so I'm dropping off the wheel at my local tire shop for diagnosis/repair. They turn around a loose wheel a lot faster than an entire car sitting in the lot, so I figured I'd move things along.
The problem with those scissor jacks, and the one in the Cayenneis that it isn't even a true scissor. It's shaped like a boomerang. Instructions state that they must be used in conjunction with the tire chocks that are included in your arsenal of equipment in the trunk.

Stop worrying Doug, what could possibly go wrong?

Did it all just snap back into place just fine? Those plastic underbody panels are surprisingly durable and there's a big thick metal seam/ridge under there to support the body.

It was my car! I'm currently going thru court for the assault on the tech that did the work. JK.

No damage, got a discount on the work performed but that was after sending the pictures to corporate. There was no damage underneath the plastic. After a day in the hot sun, those pieces went back to their normal shape with no damage done to the car. I pulled one of a few months later to see what was under there and it's a pinch weld. Was still intact so all is well. I just posted a pic of the car in another thread so you can see they are normal looking now. That lift happened in February of 2020 so a little over 3 years ago.

Yea, as soon as the car came off the lift, those pieces looked semi normal. By the next day, they were back to normal looking. No damage but man was I irate and being a total dik with some pretty cruel insults about his intelligence. Poor guy felt bad as they know my other cars. I feel bad about it now.

I think you got lucky. I think there are hard lines and soft lines that run through there. At least there are on other cars. The pinch weld may have saved a costly repair. I'm with lml999, I may have gone to jail that day. Especially when there are four big round sub frame mounts that are perfectly capable to use as jack points. That's what I use.

Awesome work on the PCM. If one wanted to do this, where should they look?

I got a lot things done on my turbo cayenne.
1. I took out pcm and replaced hard drive with ssd using DIY

PCM out

I have a 100gb Toshiba in PCM

replaced with 250gb Samsung

2. I updated the navigation with maps for 2022, via usb flash drive , for this I needed a usb connection to the pcm, which was missing, I bought oem wiring and installed it from the pcm to the armrest, then unlocked the usb and aux with piwis and updated via f

After navigation maps update
lash drive
3. It turned out that the bluetooth connection with the phone is available in PCM but it been locked and we unlocked it with piwis, after the phone connected to the pcm , I made a call but they can't hear me, the microphone on the upper console is missing or not working. After looking at the wiring manual it turns out I don't have the mic wiring from the pcm to the console mic. I ran a cable and the phone started

C1 and C9 on PCM

A1 and A2 on roof console

Cables wiring through
4. I Bought a sportchrono clock and installed via DIY

Clean

It’s better now
5. I brought 2 michelin PS4 for the rear

Get lucky with this rapid, didn’t come in

Turned out to be a non repairable puncture in the sidewall, so I'm getting two new tires...I'll put a fifth tire/wheel into rotation. Just happen to have a spare RS Spyder wheel sitting around.
