That would explain the black smoke (unburnt fuel)

So is it OK now?

Seems odd that 4 failed at the same time

Runs very strong now , they said 2 failed , 2 showed errors and misfires . So they decided to replace all of them. The 2 that were showing misfires the plugs were showing abnormal wear & I burned fuel. So that is why they decided to replaced everything I was told .

I bet it drives significantly better, now!

I grew up in Portsmouth, NH--haven't been back much over the past couple of years, but I DID see the new Memorial Bridge. I suppose there are some people that might like the design, but you can't beat the original.

A '14 with multiple coil pack failures?? Wonder if in the end something else was causing the misfire to the packs and the dealer guys just follow their flowchart and replace coils. Or it is a sad state of affairs that after all these years Porsche and their suppliers can't get these coil packs right?

I appreciate that coil pack failures may be influenceded by climate but with 5 Porsches, 300,000kms and 5 year, I have not experienced a single coil failure.

well an update... UGH!

SO I took on another sales team and decided it was best to drive and meet all my reps instead of flying, driving, and running all around SC to the north again. SO I drove straight down to Charleston & started doing my rounds with my new reps, got up to Raleigh area, and then up to DC area. Truck was running perfectly fine no issues at all. I leave DC after it was sitting for 3 days at the hotel and it is sluggish and lack luster performance. I was not pleased !

So I stop at Porsche Silver Spring, they take me in right away. They come back to me almost 2 hours later and inform me that their are many misfire error codes, and they saw that it was in a month ago for the same problem. So they called Porsche and asked what to do. They still have the vehicle in DC and I'm in NYC right now for meetings that I ended up flying up for.

Today they called me and said that they were told to replace the upper wiring harness to the engine, and a bunch of other items. I was like ummmmm WHAAAATTTTTTTTT?

So now I've opened a case with Porsche Customer Assistance center, I've talked to 3 people so far in the last 4 hours. They know I put a lot of miles on the vehicle, they know I've done early maintenance on it. Now they are claiming that Germany is involved in this latest issue. I explained to them that I was leaving NYC soon and needed a vehicle , they called in a $30/day rental for enterprise . I laughed so hard when she told me that, she then upped it to 50. Now I need to Boston Thursday, and asked her " so how do you all expect to get my vehicle back to me when and if it's repaired? " dead silence. I then was told " we'll figure it out sir and get back to you ASAP" clearly she was listening to someone else talk to her.

Not pleased !!!

Hm, engine wire harness... Interesting...

I've had repeated oxygen sensor failures on my '12 CTT with just over 20k miles. The dealer changed the sensor twice. The third time, when one of the new sensors reported an error, they consulted Porsche Intelligent Repair Solutions (aka Germany).

They told the dealer to replace a part of the engine harness. Just judging by the facial expression of my service rep, he seemed almost apologetic. Not sure if it's bad for the car.

My other symptoms are a loud idle (no shaking, rpm stable, just super annoying audible resonance) and the throttle seems slightly unresponsive. Are you experiencing anything along those lines, too?

Also, mine drives on 201'F coolant temperature and 208'F and more oil temp ALL the time - whether it's freezing or hot outside. The coolant gets up to 201' real quick, like in less than 5 minutes. Maybe excessive heat has something to do with defaulted wiring?

I will add I noticed no black smoke but I do have white smoke for the first 15 seconds on cold startups.

Rennaissance, I have the exact same experience in my '12 CTT. Like yours, mine also has just slightly over 20k miles.
.... exactly the same,... even down to the small puff of white smoke immediately upon startup (which goes away just as fast).

The only thing I would add to your comments, is that, for me, the "slightly unresponsive throttle" is only when I am pulling away slowly from a stop (like in my driveway),... so it feels that way from a idle (in gear) and only wanting to move slowly (again, like in a parking lot).

I noticed this from the very first day I purchased the vehicle. I just assumed it was a personality of the vehicle. Character. It is different from most of the other SUV's that I have owned.

BUT, I will say, that during those specific moments when I feel like the throttle is "heavy" (which again is only a momentary feeling that lasts less than a second),... if I push the throttle a little more I get immediate response,... without any hesitation, without any delay, and with immediate power delivery.

So at this point I am not thinking I have any problems. But it was weird for me to read your post. The way you described it, I have the exact same experience with my vehicle. AND ours are almost exactly the same MY, mileage, model.

Just not sure if any of this is related to OP engine wire harness replacements needs.

Malfunctions seem to occur after a good deal of driving followed by a few days of no use followed by another long drive. Seems very odd to me that this could be due to a wiring harness.

As to returning the car to the OP, well, there are many auto transit companies. That's not an issue, I'd guess.

I don't think I'd like this sample if no warranty.

That's just condensation on startup - not smoke. It goes away once the small warmup cat gets up to temp.

** Update**

Was just told that the wiring harness had zero effect on the vehicle, and that germany is now saying replace the Engine ECU, and order 6 other parts he rattled off to me.

I smell buy back in the very near future.... I'm not pleased $145K , 29K on it 7mths and it's un-driveable right now.

I'm going to give it another day and call my rover dealer and place an order
