Thoughts on this wheel tire combo deal
I had my 08S for only a few days and I'm already looking at new wheels. I'm wondering if anyone has any information on this maker of wheels and tires (see link below). First and foremost, I want to ensure that they are safe for speed. Thoughts?

Chinese tires! Do not make eye contact, run for your life, do not look back.
Definitely stick to tier 1 tires (Pirelli, Michelin, etc.) or worst case Tier 2 if money an issue (Toyo, Falkens, etc.). Never heard a good thing about these no-name Chinese tires, not worthy of being on a Porsche IMHO! You do know about Porsche N-rating right? If not google it.
I have had several sets of Replica RIMS however, and never had an issue. Although I would prefer buying Replica's from a proper distributer, with peace of mind that they are certified for American standards, etc. I have seen Chinese Turbo II rims on Alibaba for low as $20 each in volume, can just imagine the quality at that price, and if that is what the Ebay vendors are buying!!!!! I also see these packages on Kijiji and Craigslist (same price) from people selling them from their houses. If you do the math, thats like $300 a corner (lets say $150 rim, $150 tire), and there is profit included. Would you trust these to your heavy SUV, with performance that can push these much harder than most vehicles can?

Raises another questions: What wheels and tires do you folks recommend for the 08S and where do you find the best prices for them. Apologies if there is already a good thread on this.

I'd stick with OEM wheels and good quality tires. I don't always use N-spec tires. I'm currently running Continental ExtremeContact DWS on my summer wheels. They're not N-spec, but I'm very happy with them. On my winter wheels, I do run Michelin Latitude Alpin N-spec tires.

Personally I chose N-rated Pirelli Scorpion Verde AS (and separate winters/rims). Some may snear at them since they are all seasons (instead of UHP summer), but they will last 3 times as long as say the Michelin Latitude sports, still rated for 240km/h, allow some minor off-road, and handle just fine IMHO. They are also the #1 rated tire in its class on tire-rack, and comes out on top on all their tests.
I also got Turbo II rims, see my other posts so I don't appear to be spamming repeating the supplier site.
A little over CDN$2K all in (plus tax), no shipping charges, purchased and installed from a local tire shop.

They are an OEM supplier to BMW amongst other companies, but the Victor line is strictly for Porsche and doesn't require any different bolts etc.
BTW, a lot of wheels advertised as made in the USA use blanks from China!
I would have no qualms about using Victor's, they are available here at Dicount Tire, but I'm sure they are sold in Canada!
I would stick with any "N" rated tire.

Excellent ideas and advice. I think what I might do is get some winter tires and put them on the existing rims and then purchase new rims and summer tires over the winter. I'm thinking 20". So, please keep the ideas coming.

I have some 21" wheels for CTT 08 that I am not using. OEM not damaged, GTS type. I ended up running 19" Victor wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow all year. Will entertain offers.

That's a good plan. I run 20" wheels in the summer and 18" wheels in the winter. This setup works very well for me.

I got my 20" GTS winter wheels from that same vendor on Ebay. If you email them prior to purchase they can quote you with any tire you want. I bought mine with Yokohama Parada. Good to go....had them for couple years now with no issue. Btw, I live in Cleveland area and use 20's for winter and 22's in summer. If you are not tracking, etc...22 with a drop look best by far.
