I think the 06 already has the updated transmission valve body and programming.

By '06 the reprogramming was the standard programming on the shift module, and while XR4Tim has seen a valve body that had problems, it seems much rarer with the '06 model year (sort of like Porsche/Asain got a handle on it..) That might be an improved valve body, or it could be just less '06's sold then '04's..

I drove a 2005 S today, left me wanting for more power. Nice truck but not as much grunt as I would have expected. A little suprised, my current DD is a S6 avant 340 HP motor as well and much much faster.

That 06 T.E. Is very very well optioned. You can get an ext warranty on the 06, not on the 04(too old).

They don't call it a pig because it's light weight. I'd guess it weighs quite a bit more than the Audi.

FML seems like the 2006 T.E. just sold! I wonder how long these cars usually stay on the market for. I'm now looking to see if I can find some more option.

yup.. all about power-weight ratio.. The turbo is way more powerful.
