Default Thud when accelerating

Hi, I dont know if this is normal. Have a 2008 cayenne v6 with 26t KM (A/T trans) on the clock. I notice that on low speeds when i press down on the gas there is s thudding sound which seems to come somewhere from the driveshaft. It is not bothersome but sometimes when my foot is heavy I feel the thud. The car has low milage so I dont know if some support parts have worn down or is this normal for this car. Thanks in advance.

Certainly sounds like the classic cardan shaft issue one reads about, although 28,000 km is unusually low mileage for a worn cardan shaft centre bearing support.

They usually start banging at circa 100,000 km.

Check your sway bar links in the rear, you could have a snapped one.

Thanks for the replies, will the problem be seen when I lift the vehicle?

if its the center bearing on the cardan shaft go see other posts but the rubber breaks apart around the bearing.

If it's a thud at shift between gears(up and down) its a tranny issue........

Right not based on searches I thing it is not a tranny issue since there is no thud on shifts. Here was something I noticed though, I had an alignment and camber adjustment and it temporarily went away. That mad me think of control arm bushings, though it is only a hunch. Ill try shaking some parts of the underside of the car and see it there is any play. And yes, I have some vibrations at high speeds (120Km/h). I just had my tires balanced twice. No abnormal sound though when speeding. Is there a specific symptom for the center bearing going out?

Cardan Shaft/Center Bearing = midgets banging through the center console... 20 or 30/second. Almost like a violent flat tire.

Transmission "clunk" feels like someone hit you... usually when you accelerate hard. Remedy is probably Valve Body replacement and/or Transmission Control Unit.

if its not the cardan shaft bushing, check the rear control arm bushings. when they rip they make a noise when susp changes direction, like accel after reversing. will be a single clunk per direction change.

Think this is where I'll dig into first. bushings are cheap to replace and yes, it is a single thud and I get it also on reverse then drive as a single thud like something bumping you from behind. It is quite hard at times to reproduce maybe because the bushings arent that worn out yet. Wish me luck, I hate to see the transmission go down at only 26t Kms.

I have this clunk/thump when first starting or changing direction from forward-->reverse (and vice versa). I have just replaced the drive shaft. How do I check the bushings. Is it possible to visually inspect bushings in the control arms? I dont have a lift or jack anymore since I moved into a townhouse (had to get rid of a bunch of tools unfortunately).
