No idea where to start with this thread....?? All over the place...
Riley - as unpopular as this may be... I really like your ideas. As in, really like them. Very much feels like arbitrage. Brilliant theories, in my opinion, about human behavior. I may even try to do this... but how on earth do you get a dealer to start giving you discounts? (OR, how do it get in the $4MM friends/family group??)

First, his point about buying low option base models is very valid. When I wanted to trade in my Aston, all they wanted to know was the mileage and color. That's it. I asked the guy about the fact that it had a bunch of options, and he said "they add virtually zero to the resale value".
The other point he makes is buying a new model in high demand. Given that it is a new model, there is no real "used" market, thus a one year old model commands an artificially high price until plenty of used cars become available.
But, most of us, including me, do not have the self control when it comes to power and options. That's why Porsche realizes obscene profit margins.

If you ignore the friends/family bulk discount comment, he makes a couple of very valid points.

BTW, how is Fernando holding up these days?
Your conspicuous absense from the Racing/DE forum F1 discussions has been noted.
