Default 2005 Cayenne Turbo Opinions and Reviews

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and have always been involved in forums for all the cars I have owned. I think it is the best source of information especially coming from other enthusiast.

Anyways I am looking at purchasing an 05 Turbo with 52,000 miles. I have read what seemed to be consumer reviews and they all seemed to be pretty good.

Was wondering if the community could provide me more feedback on this year and model. Also if there is anything I should look out for when inspecting the vehicle for any common problems with these cars.

Also what should I expect as far as maint. goes?

Admin sticky threads at the top of this forum will have answers to all of your questions.

And though it's been a slow week in The Pen, I'll refrain from yelling "Fore" or politely whispering "STFF".

Welcome, btw

so far is see the following to be worried about..
  • Coolant Pipes and T's
  • Coil Packs
  • Spark Plugs
  • Driveshaft
  • Water drains in hatch

Anything else I am missing that is common?

I've replaced the fuel pump and water pump in my pig... neither of which are especially unusual repairs...

52,000 miles....2,000 miles into naked territory. Check under the driver's seat, should be a suicide note.

in addition to what has already been mentioned:

Horns (front fishbowls)
Rear spoiler (rear fishbowl)
Coiled up remote entry antenna
updated keyfobs
rear window microswitch (3rd revision)
angry elephant *** front windshield wipers
rear window washer prostate simulator
rusting and self ejecting stainless steel trim
headlight condensation (first the maxi pad fix, then the ventilation tube fix)
alignment (3 revisions)
TCU/valve body ... ECU firmware mismatch
leaking PASM compressor seals
weak rear hatch struts (sponsored by Viagra)
clogged sunroof drains
software update for infotainment/audio/PCM
battery (make sure the vent line is connected)

apart from that, nothing really worthy of mention.

'06 Turbo S and replaced the Coolant pipes as preventive (dealer install) as well as plugs & coil packs (easy DIY). I'm at 57K as of today and figure the driveshaft will need to be done in the next 10~15K but I'll DIY that too. Really fun, 521bhp + secondary cat deleted = Fun for a SUV.

Fishbowl...aquarium.
They both hold water.

The design of the horn allows for water to accumulate, hence premature horn failure. Very common problem. As to ease of getting to the horns...

As to why the Cayenne is called the P!g ... I would suggest asking the Official Forum T Shirt for the answer.

I won't, Larry. Only out of respect to you. Besides, that picture, yes, that picture, along with why we call it The P!G, can be easily found by STTF

So do I. Except, I fear for this newbie's life, since the resident Expert will take him/her on the offer presented in post #9
