How long did your stock battery last?
If you're still on the stock battery how old is the vehicle (since the Production Date)?

I'm on the stock battery, 4.5 yrs. since production.

Mine was still good at 5 years and 48K miles when I traded the pi -oops- truck in for another truck.

My OEM battery died at about 3-1/2 years. I had it replaced at the dealer with another Porsche OEM battery.

Replaced last week with a stock battery....went south with little warning and no time to search for an alternate.

That would be 6 years and 42Kmi.The survey should have a 5 or more years catagory.

Did not own the S that long but was provided with all the maintenance records at the time of sale.

Lots of other stuff done but no battery exchange.

Hmmn, the P!g was whelped 2003, this is 2009, so I'm guessing "still on original Porsche battery" covers anything more than 4-5 years...

I'd be happy to edit the poll and add the option however.

I don't think an Optima will fit (too tall).

IIRC, the current OEM battery may be an AGM battery sourced from Varta, and therefore won't require a vent tube, nor having to remove the seat every 2 years/20K miles to check the electrolyte level.

5.5 years so far on my original battery - that's the longest I've ever had an original battery last. But rather than push my luck trying to see if it gets thru the winter, I'll probably just have the dealer replace it with another OEM one when I go in for the 80K mile service in a few weeks.

Good point!

My S is a 2004 but was delivered in April 2003 making it 6 years 7mo.

Could that mean that the 03s were delivered mid 2002?

Just replaced ours at 176,000+ miles with an aftermarket - it was just 4 months short of 7 years old

Feel free to edit the poll as you see fit.

I suspect that batteries in cars that are driven like yours will last a good bit longer than the ones in vehicles that sit alot.

176K Miles???? Wow. I thought I was setting a record at 85K in my 04. I am at the point of decision as to what to do with my Cayenne. Knowing that you got 176K and still rolling strong makes me consider to keep the thing and run it until the wheels fall off.

Battery=85K, June 03 release date. Southern Cal truck, so no major cold weather issues except for weekend ski trips.

Does Interstate make a replacement?

Yes, I posted a link to it in the other battery thread. You can find it through their web site.

RL member 'T2' is the sort of guy who always "skews the Bell curve" when it comes to Porsche reliability.

IIRC, 234K miles on his 03 996T X50, daily driver in New England...
