Installed the new cardan shaft. Everything came apart and back together nicely. It cost me 500 euros for the part and 16 dollars to put the pig on a lift to do the job. No Jimi riggin here! In Germany, we drive way too fast to do some cheap fix.

Not what I did, but what I didn’t…know. After all these years, I just looked at the key from the front and, lo and behold, it looks like a Cayenne. Mind blown! I am not as observant as I’d thought.
How did I not ever notice?

The headlights work when you press the buttons too.

If you bought you Cayenne new, you paid a minimum of $65,000-$130,000. No matter how old it is, why would you McGyver fix it. You could afford to buy it, you can afford to fix it. Besides, here in Germany we drive a lot faster than in other countries. Legally. Would you want to go 200 kilometers per hour in something that has zip ties on it?
Just my opinion.

I am a new pig owner and although there is proven use of the cable tie fix all over this forum at the end of the day your the one in control and God forbid someone has an accident and drivetrain is factored in. Well who knows where you stand.
I 100% would use the fix in a pinch to get me out of trouble but the long-term fix would be to install a manufactured aftermarket carrier. I fortunately have the aftermarket one already fitted so no cable ties or heater hose needed in my glove box.

Even better is to eliminate that design flaw all together with a 1-piece driveshaft. Why Porsche stuck a pivot point and support in the middle of that makes zero sense, of course, neither does the 10,000 mile oil change interval they recommend.

Rolled down my driveway after replacing a vacuum hose that burst, only to find out I didn’t have much power braking ability lol.
I had lifted this one on passenger side and forgot to plug it back in.
