I think for those of us that paid $70 to 9$0 for a 997 TT we got the one of the best cars out there for the money.

Interesting about what the guy said about the McLaren costing so much to own. The owner that I know has not had one problem with the car. But that doesn't mean anything I guess..

And that 430 Ferrari's are in the 120's now. That is a great car for the money as well..

And yes we all lament the fact that our cars do not sound like the Lambo's!

Phillip excellent points. I think new 991 TT's will likely be lease vehicles and hit the second hand market off lease after 3 yrs with severe discounts. I wouldn't be surprised to see 991 TT's hit ~50% depreciation after 4 yrs vs 997 TT which hit 50% at the 5-6 yrs point

It all comes down to alternatives and the only way people will choose a used 991 TT over say a used 458 or McLaren is if it's proportionally discounted in a similar ratio to the F430 vs 997TT

Another point I'd like to make if I may. The Turbo S in the past has had an exclusivity to it. Look at the 964, 993, 996, and even the 997 to a large extent. TTS were only offered at the end of the production cycle as a limited edition. And now Porsche is offering both a TT and a TTS from the get go. How many people who bought a brand new turbo in the past did so because it was the cream of the crop? It was the top of the food chain with a base MSRP of $125K. Now a regular turbo is no longer that car. You need $200K to join that club. Which brings me to my initial point in the earlier post.

I really do not think a 991 Turbo S will be much faster than a 997 Turbo S.My Turbo S has done 0 to 60 in 2.6 second and the quarter miles in 10.60 seconds(bone stock). The track, may be a little better time with that rear steering, but really splitting hairs. The 991 is heaver than the 997,so we shall see.I am getting a 991 TS,I am going to be really pissed if it is not as fast as my 997 TS..

By the way,I have spanked a new McLean twice at the drag strip...

Additional,Not sure if I like that electric steering, what happens if it goes hay wire and those rear wheel turn the wrong way at high speed..Not Good...

Living in Italy I would never buy again a Ferrari or a Lambo: too many attentions form people around you. And this is not safe actually.
However I agree on the price and on the fact that, usually, Turbo S was the closing series of the line.
Happy to see that a lot of people have the same feeling.

damn, I had no idea the new P's were so expensive, 200K for a Porsche seems like a bit much

In Europe they are even more expensive!
Final price of my Turbo S was 195.000 euros that means, today, 265.000 USD!

Price here are crazy: try to configure a car on Porsche site pretending you live in Italy, Spain, France....
You'll see how lucky you are!

991 TTS with some additions arrives to 285.000 dollars easily!

I am in the same dilemma. I sold my TT cab with PDK 2010 - got murdered - was simply bored with it so traded for a new Boxster S for my wife which I honestly think she will love for 10 years....SO now configured a 991tt and 991tts over the weekend with the new body and exhaust note .....and well having trouble justifying the price of $ 200K C on one hand...and the $ 20K delta on the other in the difference of 991tt S vs on 991 tt. I know I can buy one in 4 years at 50% of today's price, but my stupid logic is - well at that kind of money, I might as well buy exactly what I want. I do wish it had a stick though. Now wondering if I keep my 993tt...way too much money invested in cars - WAY too much.

My point about the McLaren was not that it is faster than a TT. It's just that the TT is more "Pedestrian" than the Mac, or a Ferrari or a Lambo.

The TT is one of the fastest cars out there. My point just was the they have homogenized the TT now. No more stick, Panamera interior. What happened to the 911?

Why did they have to make the TT more like the Cayenne and the Panamera? Why couldn't it be special and different?

I know that i will see new TT's in my town with stuffed animals in the back window and "Hello Kitty" license plates.. I guess that is exactly the target market for the new "VW Porsche"..

More and more I am starting to agree with people who say the 997 TT will be more valuable as time goes on..

Did I mention how much I hate the 991 interior?

991 interiors are nice but too similar to Cayenne and Panamera. I agree on the fact that 911 must be different!

I think Porsche is pricing themselves out of the market. Even the US lease mkt, a 200k car is pushing 3k/mo, most will draw the line there I think.

Finally still loving mine. It is not easy to change a car when you love it.

I couldn't agree more.. I love my car. Rather than get another car I would just like to buy more "stuff" for it...

Your car is gorgeous by the way!
