Lou,

Not really like a S2000. The peak torque is around 7500 in the S2000 with weak mid-torque. I think that you are just addicted to the huge amounts of torque in the turbo.

Okay, how about this then: would you trade the 997TT and Z06 for a GT2? (Hijacking my thread).

YES, I am hearing the GT2 may be the last GT car for awhile but if you get one BECAREFUL or RIP!

No, the best of both worlds my friend with those cars. I have sold my C6Z but wish I had it now. I will probably buy another to trade off with the 997, just a fantastic sports car for american standards.

Yes, easy choice. GT2 is faster than both, and you don't really need awd in Cali. With PSM on the GT2, it should be pretty safe too unless you do something seriously stupid. And you got to keep the nice interior of the 911 too. Not to mention you also saved a parking spot (For another future toy)

BUT, I think the GT2 standard suspension is like the TT with PASM on, not sure if you like the firmer ride all the time.

Also you will not have the BIG trunk like the one on the Z06.

opinions...I can not recall how many times this topic has been hashed out. For someone who regrets selling his 996 GT3 (as I loved it to death in mileage) I have been looking hard at the 997 TT as a logical alternative. However torque alone is just not floating my boat in this crap E63 AMG. So my guess is that it will be the same feeling in the 997 TT. I want drama (nervous steering), high rev noise, choppy/bumpy rides, that may also get the attn of the babes, wife not withstanding. I'm leanin back to the GT3. Now can we get one next year on Euro Delivery, another topic indeed.

The 63 engine wasn't actually about torque, it made a lot less than the 55 engine and at a higher rpm. It's more about high revving and pull in the 63 engine. The torque in that motor was just a result of a big motor, but that big motor can rev to 7k rpm all day long. The TT actually drives more like the 55 engine equiped AMGs, immediate punch from off the line but it doesn't real rev alot. I have all 3 engines and revving the 63 to 7k is kinda fun once in a while but why work that hard when just a little throttle in the other 2 engines and you are GONE.

The E55's were always faster than the 63's, though I think the gearing allowed the 63's to catch back up after 120 mph or so. From a dig or a roll, I don't think anything is not fair game for an E55. Mine was like a catapult from an aircraft carrier. I have never seen a car keep the ESP light flashing constantly like the E55. Too bad the sensotronic brakes were such garbage

Its all moot, as apparently, we should all get Mustang GT500s.

agree 100%. Talk about torque - my Kleemann K2 E55 was putting out over 640 lb/ft and close to 600 HP and ran the 1/4 in high 11's on street tires. The look of people (especially back in '04 when a lot of folks did not know it) at the drag strip was priceless. I'd hear all the snickers and comments as people were unloading their cars from the trailers. I'd pull up, radio on, AC on and boom!!! The looks were priceless LOL.

The TT is quick but having owned the E55 it's not like i'm blown away when I hit the gas in the TT. Anyone who hasn't driven one should go try it.

I wouldnt be surprised if cars don't get much faster than they are now; it might be that we've reached a peak with the Veyron. 0-60 in 2.5 seconds is probably as good as it gets. More power is easy to make; the Bugatti runs only 18PSI. The engine could probably run upwards of 20 and you could make over 1200HP out of that thing if you wanted.

The main limiter is tires. The Bugatti has tires specifically made for it, 365 profile in the back. It has a 14.5" wide contact patch with the ground. If you make more power than 1000, you're going to need some damn good tires to get to a beter 60mph time than 2.5 seconds. I know of no tire that will not spin ridiculously with a 1000+HP clutch drop.

By the time the 63 spools up I have lost interest. Its clearly not an M5 type of car in my view (ie a car you want to rev and run at 7K all day, passengers will think you've gone mad)- just not agile enough. I will not risk offending others with any analogies here.

I miss that in your face from the get go, gear jammin'. However as I am only allowed one car at a time, 4 doors schlepper it is. Yeah that 55 whooped my former E39 M5 butt in a straight drag race; however gimme some canyon and now we are talkin business! At least I could have been someone So to stay on topic, it appears the TT will only forestall the inevitable GT3 or whatever the next generation of GT Porsche builds.

I fell in love with Porsche years ago in college when I drove a friend's 73 911. Shortly thereafter, I bought my first Porsche, a 77 911 S. Over the years I've owned several more Porsches including an 02 TT and my current 04 GT3. The GT3 reminds me of the rough around the edges, visceral feel of my original 77 911 S. To me it's everything a Porsche is meant to be. The TT? That was a beautiful, comfortable car with "kick ya in the back" acceleration that you could also take your wife out to dinner in. But it sure wasn't anything like what I think of when I think Porsche. The GT3 on the other hand......dang is that a wonderful car...AND it's my daily driver!

Buy two, you'll need the spare.
