Thank you! The drone tubes were actually deleted. They hung too low for my comfort and came about an inch from hitting the incline part of my driveway. It is also more aesthetically pleasing without them I think.

Before drone tubes were deleted

After drone tubes were deleted

It sounds just a little bit boomier in the cabin without them. Nothing hateful. The resonators do a pretty good job of keeping the tone deep at idle, refined under load / cruise, and a screamer at WOT.

Default 10/24/2022 update. I will never sell.

What’s up RL. Figure I would update my original build thread with all that has been going on with the car. Recently got the itch for more power, so I decided to get upgraded turbos along with some other bolt-on mods. I also discovered an oil leak and decided to fix it. Picture heavy post warning:

Tear down:

Source of the oil leak:

Had to tear it down to be able to reseal the transfer housing correctly. (The oil leak was caused by me the last time I had it apart. I didn’t apply liquid gasket correctly and thus, it a very minor and slow leak. Not enough to drip onto the floor or saturate the block. But some dampness was noticed in certain areas from underneath):

New 63.5’s modded VGT’s:

Torque Solution inlets:

While I had the engine apart I figure I’d try something a bit different. Shielding my intake manifolds to reflect radiant heat. Figure it won’t hurt, and if it helps to mitigate heat soak in the warmer months, then hey, that’s a win:

As of now. The top is all buttoned up and dressed. This week I will be installing new plugs and ignition coils (I’ll have to mod #6) and installing all new o rings for the turbo oil and water lines as well as new exhaust gaskets and manifold gaskets with new hardware.

Other mods on the way:
ALPHA AMS intercoolers

Your car is just tops! Love the look of the intake, but not sure how much plastic heatsoaks, regardless it looks nice.

I hope you have an easier time with those torque solutions inlet pipes than I did. Trimming them while in the car to get them to fit sucked.

Your car is going to be a beast with those turbos. I would say good luck, but you know what you're doing

Thanks all for the kind words! It’s very encouraging to hear and provides some motivation to keep doing things like this.

More from tonight. Installed the turbos. Replaced every single o ring for the turbo water/oil lines and also the manifold gaskets and turbo gaskets. Inching closer to completion….although I seem to have misplaced my couplers that mate the plenum to the intake manifolds. I fear I may have accidentally thrown them away.

I pieced together and installed a SACHs stage 2.5 a couple years and about 5k miles ago. Still holding strong so going to run with that. It should hold the power and torque… guys apparently throw 700 at it and it’s fine.

this is the route i am planning to go.

what did you do about the flywheel? did you retain the factory dual mass? if so did you replace with new or reuse the original?

i think our cars are similar mileage ~45k so genuinely curious.
