Got mine in the mail from Sunset - ordered Thursday, shipped Friday from OR, at my door on Monday. Doesn't seem like there are any shipping restrictions. Anyone in Houston is welcome to use it... I'm gonna try to get mine done this week/weekend.

Took care of this today. Thankfully mine moved up and down just fine, if a little noisy. There is some surface rust but otherwise still functional at 117k miles. Used a little length of tubing just like Tinkerbill to get the lube up to the top actuator ball joint. Thanks for making this post! I would have never known to do this.

I guess I’ll just buy it from one of the reputable Porsche sites like Suncoast for cheaper. I did tell him about other sites selling it for cheaper and he gave me $100 “his price” given the info I provided. No big deal.
This magical spray, for the price, better not only help my VGTs but also solve world hunger.

If I remember correctly my dealer(parts person) quoted about $150. I had to **** shame him down by telling him I could get it at Sunset for about $70 but wanted to keep the purchase local. Said I was a Porsche club member and asked if that was his best cost. He put me on hold for a minute then came down in price by 50%. Still pretty pricey but it is the real stuff that Porsche spec's and its a very important application.

I used a high temp gun oil called Archoil, that another post recommended. It was not $100, more like $20 or something, I forget.

This looks like the one you're thinking of. There's even a review from a Porsche owner, named Ed...

Yeah I gave them a plug! And I was wrong about the price, $13.

I’ve noticed a slight power surge (semi non linear delivery) at partial throttle sometimes (intermittently). I chalked it up to turbo lag, but would actuators cause this if they are not moving smoothly more than usual?

LOL I just got my can of 'magic juice' from my local dealer as well - it's gotta be magic and add at least 100hp for this price. Did the price shaming thing coming and going as well. Telling a min wage summer intern over $100 for a can of oil is excessive was neither surprising news nor actionable strategic intelligence for the kid. They did honor the PCA 10% off...

I think we need a reality check here. This is a simple exposed ball joint in a high temp environment . Any quality lubricant designed for high temp applications will do. Maybe if you’re looking for a once in a lifetime application and believe that the magic Porsche recommended lubricant for the price of gold is the solution then fine. But if you’re willing to get under the car every year or two and re-lube the joints, save yourself the money and get any high quality spray lube.

My thought process too. I just don’t get it. There has to be other lubricants out there.
VGT technology came from the diesel world so there has to be some truck service bulletin describing same type of lube-up service for these actuators.
Hell, maybe even worth asking BorgWarner.
I’ll research further when I’m not lazy and report back.

Just ordered this based on your recommendation. Seems appropriate for the application.
Wondering if it could also be used in the convertible top spindle bearings, that calls for osixo anti squeak 557 (PFPE oil)?? Maybe just apply more often (annually) than a teflon based lube?
