Finally made it to the Porsche Factory Tour & Museum (and more w/pics) :o)
Thanks to many of your pics from Stuttgart over the years and my general interest in going, I FINALLY made it these past 2 weeks to Germany to see all the cool stuff I've only seen online. The neatest part was to see SO many Porsches being driven around Stuttgart that were mostly all brand new, and to see truck after truck of Porsches loaded on the trailers ready to be shipped out, it was like Disneyworld for me. I definitely teared up a few times. The factory tour was better by far than the Mercedes or AMG factory tours I saw. Much less automation and the craftsmanship was unbelievable. To see all the hides of leather in so many different colors, the women that were stitching the dashboards and other parts, the men that took pride on building our cars. It was phenomenal. Now, every time I get in my car I will think more of what went into the making of it than I ever did before.
If you are curious what it was like to go to Germany from 12/11/18 - 12/21/18 the last 2 weeks, here’s the link to the pics.
Including the Porsche, Mercedes, AMG and BMW factory tours and museums. I didn't get to the BMW Factory though since it closed for the year a few days before I got there (. I was only able to do their museum and the Welt.

Glad you were able to check this one of your bucket list .
It is an amazing and at times deeply enriching experience for the soul when you see the pride and craftsmanship of the leather work and assembly of the car by the workers there.
I remembered one time while I was there, the tour guide was telling us how all 911 assembled engines goes through a vigorous QA to make sure that they were producing the advertised HP and not less prior to being put onto the chassis. As he ended his spiel, a completed engine failed the HP figure test and it stopped the engine assembly line while it was being moved off by workers to be disassembled and re-evaluated.
I was sold

That was an awesome video, for the 35th time lol.
Last year I went to the museum and it blew me away. You need to fight through the atmosphere filled with history. So well done.

Factory Tour
I was able to get to the factory for a tour in mid September. It was all pretty special. The day I was there they were prototyping some Taycan activites on one of the production floors so a good deal of the shop was off limits to us that day.
We flew into Frankfurt and rented a car and drove to Stuttgart. The right lane of the hiway most of the way to Stuttgart was bumper to bumper trucks but I had a good time exploring the upper limits of the rental car in the left lanes from time to time along with some other people in much faster cars.
A few weeks after I got home, I got a bill from the rental car company for about $30 for the cost of sharing my rental information with the German authorities. I haven't received the performance award(s) yet but considering the speed I was moving it wont be good
