Had to drive in the rain today ... is my car worthless now?
Visited my Nephew today to celebrate the 4th of July ... Sunny and nice day. But then rain came through and I had to drive home in it. Does that now mean my 2008 997 TT is now worthless!

I guess it's even worse than getting it wet ... I actually drove it and put (horrors) miles on the car. That'll really hit the value hard. I'm so confused and heartbroken now. Oh, what to do?

We had a Bluebonnet run with the local PCA and that morning it was overcast and you saw rain on the radar. My wife and son did not think we were going to attend. Mine got wet and even wetter when it was bathed and covered up.

Driving to a local Porsche 70 year anniversary event last month wife and I took the Turbo even though it was looking a little overcast and even began drizzling as we left the house. Wife knows I never drive the Turbo in the rain and as we get going it starts to rain harder. I go, ehhh oh well. Turbo is relatively new to us and it’s the first supercar we’ve ever had, so thinking something quirky or bad happens she asked, “What happens when you drive it in the rain?”
I said, “It gets wet!!”
Probably the biggest roll of the eyes I’ve ever gotten from her.

I'm so OCD with my car it's been hard driving it in the rain, the winter (when salt isn't on the road but who knows if remnants of it are on the road a few days later?), and when it's crappy out in general. I love keeping it clean and I used to worry about the undercarriage when it's super rainy out, or even slightly rainy, possibly getting small chips on the car during these period of weather, and other stupid things like this. Once it's clean, I hate getting it dirty since the wheels are so hard to clean.
I've decided that I don't want to go to heaven one day wondering - "was it all worth it? obsessing about clean I kept my car it's whole life"?
But still, it's still hard to take it out when it's totally shi**y out there... and I do it anyway.
It's tough being me.

Nice thread. Yeah I wince when I get caught in the rain, I don't drive it in the snow (use one of my Audis for that) and in general try to keep clean as long as possible.
That being said, with the entire bottom of the car one big skid plate, it has to be one of the most protected underneath cars I have been in.
My Dad's 911's were DD's, so they saw everything Mother Nature offers here in PA, and he did not experience any issues over 4 different vehicles and about 20 years, including entire summers on the Jersey shore.
