Hey all,

So i originally didn't care much for the stock wheels on my turbo. I bought a set of Fuchs, which I quite like, since they're forged and I prefer the classic look.

As I'm swapping back to mount tires and get things going, I realize the stock wheels are actually quite amazingly well made and super high quality. It feels a shame to refer to them as boat anchors and castigate them to the garage corner. I knew this, but actually pulling the wheels and cleaning each one gave me an appreciation for them.

Is it wrong to stay stock? I don't particularly love the stock wheel, but it's growing on me. Any pros on here have info on the stock turbo wheel or any comments on the stock wheel vs aftermarket?

The .1 wheels look great. I believe they are forged as well!

I also consider the development and design based to optimize the handling of the vehicle. Look at them like the perfect pair of engineered shoes.

I've also read that they're forged, though I don't really know, and they're not notably lightweight.

I'm sort of in the same boat as you, OP. I just put some Vorsteiner wheels on and they look great, but I have to admit the OEM look of the originals had grown on me. Probably as time goes on and the cars become more classic they'll look even better since they're "correct" for the car.

I agree that these are great looking wheels for being a stock wheel. Many OE wheels are horrid. They have a classic 5 spoke design without them looking bulky due to an updated look. I am another one who really has not found an aftermarket wheel that looks so much better that I have to buy them. Maybe at some point that will happen. But for now I have no issues running the stock wheels.

The OEM equipment looks great- no doubt about it.
as a matter of fact, I believe a lot of car company's have duplicated the Porsche look ie mb

But, after I replaced my oem eqpt with aftermarket black rims. the look is day and night.
My car is black.
Now, the car looks so much more stealth and amazing. It is so SEXY.
And I've had many individuals tell me the car looks awesome, than when it had oem eqpt.
Also the windows are tinted.
This has been my experience.

I dont like it too much. I have not changed mine on all my 3 manual cars.
Again surprising its forged as the 997 Gt2 rims are cast. And people buy the GT2 rims as an upgrade.

Lol. Man, the 80's Pontiac reference isn't without some merit. I gotta say, I felt similar until I pulled each wheel and cleaned them up. The quality is very high and the fact they're forged is huge to me. To buy a set from Porsche is probably $7k.
