yep, until I figure out why it just means that not all DME are created equal (the reason why is but not the how). The .2 has a different map than the .1 and because the RS has a different peak range it has a different map than the base GT3… and because LWFW possibly more susceptible to momentum. Even the PDK is known to register 1s and 2s and Porsche will CPO up to 3s or x hours ago.

The forum is to inconsistent to consider anything fact other than the RPMs they trigger at, so I have a few emails out to help me understand, so we shall see.

The front bumper wouldn’t register on a paint meter, as it’s not metal, right? The other panels would register, excluding front and rear bumpers/non metal panels. 5 seems like a higher reading than what is triggered by stock paint levels (3-4mils), so maybe the hood was repainted? So that sounds about right, front bumper and hood repainted due to rock chips

I’m sure you guys saw the 997.2 GT2 hammer at $625k last week, that’s not the surprising part… it didn’t have buckets so the buyer came back and grabbed the GT2 LWBS off BAT for $19,000 today. I guess I’ll order that bolster cover…

Makes that 160k silver on Pcarmarket seem even like a better deal…

Correct, front bumper wouldn't register on a normal meter. Only a very expensive meter which can read composite materials would be able to. When they said nose, I was thinking front bumper, hood and fenders, but maybe only the bumper and hood were. It sounded like the PPF removed some of the paint during removal so I was guessing this wasn't on just the hood and was on the full front. I also typically expected at least a 2 mill difference from other panels and this was 1-2 mills. Either way, something for us to keep in mind when determining original vs repaint.

Can't believe that people are paying that for buckets. Especially when the ROW 991 version is still available, new, for $10k.

5 isn't considered high. It would have to be like a 9 to 12 to even like a 15 to read high and repainted. There are some shops that can come close but if I saw a 5, I would still assume original paint

Exactly my thought too. Depending on the meter and color, I’ve seen factory 997 GT3’s meter at 5-6. It’s always the differential that I look for. If one panel is 3 and another is 6, I start asking questions. Or one panel is 5 and another is 8, then I ask questions. But 3, 4 and 5 is pretty close where I wouldn’t have been overly suspicious although the 5 may have had me asking a question, I wouldn’t have immediately thought repaint. A prior 997 I had metered around 4 or 5 I believe and then the repainted panel was around 7-8, I think.

My car thats on BaT right now and was a full glass out repaint reads anywhere from 5-11. A reading taken over the clear bra'd areas adds about +9ish to the reading.

Explain why anyone would pay 18k for a set of buckets. I saw one of the PG comments state that they were 30k seats. Wondering if the two highest bidders were thinking that these were the 30k seats.

I get why the winner was willing to pay “whatever”, just a few days ago he bought the $625k GT2 with sweet red sofas in it, lol I don’t think he’s worried about price.

Its the guy bidding against him that confuses me… must be that $20k RS embroidered badge grandma put on there

Hahahaha. The placement on that script is not correct either. The top of the "S" should be horizontally level not heading towards the sky. The leather is loose in the shoulder area also.

So the embroidery is not factory? 100%? If that's true that's a bit of an upcharge, isn't it. EDIT: I've never seen RS embroidered.

I'm glad I bagged one of the last sets from Porsche NA. As I recall it takes a bit of rework to get the 991 seats to work. But in the end you can have heated seats.

it’s not bad at all to get the 991 seat to work. It’s the same seat other than the wiring.
