Ha, I was just being passive aggressive and calling it out for you…the post sounded like someone wrote it when they were messed up.

But your right… you know when your at a concert standing around talking with your friends and an aggressive drunk guy randomly pushes himself into the group yells at one of you and then trips and falls… those moments make me laugh just like that guys post did.

Clearly there are ‘active members’ of this thread and the peanut gallery. I’ve been here long enough to know you don’t need a body guard

We all get old unfortunately…this car “hurts” the joints. I watched my dad slowly sell off his manual cars or park them.

One of my employees asked me what’s next for cars for me just yesterday. I had a simple answer

“I feel like someone who used a cheat code to beat his favorite game and went all the way to the end. Now i either want to be either driving or working on this car, or even worse talking about buying, driving or working on this car in the forum with other people that made it to end game and don’t know what else to do.”

I know this is wrong thread, but since it involves a 997 GT3, I’ll ask. Would you guys consider getting rid of your 7.1 GT3 for a 991.2 GT3 manual? Asking for a friend….👀

I wish "your friend" had a few more miles on his 7.1 so I couldn't be a potential buyer and say yes go for the jump 😂

You probably want to drive it though. That's honestly the only way to know. Some people hate cars I love and vice versa.

Yes, but only because I have two 997 gens and want to drive a 991.2 more often, because its softer.

I did consider it and actually took steps to do it. My local dealer recently got a 2k mile 991.2 on trade and it was almost the exact same spec as my 997.2. Same color, PCCB, FAL, etc. I really loved the way it looked. They have a great presence. I typically don't keep cars for more than 2 years so in my mind it was well past time to change things up. I could have done an even swap, no money in or out. I got excited about getting something new and went to drive the 991.2. After about 5 minutes, I knew that I could never do it. The main thing that killed it for me was the steering feel, or lack thereof. The car felt sharp and certainly turned in well, but I could not feel what the front tires were doing the way that I can in my 997. It also felt over boosted. Besides that, the overall size larger form factor and refinement made the car feel more isolated. Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic car on all accounts, it just wasn't 997 GT3. For a daily driver I would have probably made the switch because it was a more comfortable car on the highway. However, for how I use the car, weekend rips through mountain roads for no purpose other than driving enjoyment, it just didn't provide the same visceral feel and satisfaction that my 7.2 does.

IMO the 997 GT cars will only keep going up... just like the '73 RS and CGT. One of the all time greats from Porsche.

Maybe only when they are illegal to drive on public roads then they'll start to drop in price.

A lot of people think the grass is greener somewhere else only to find out it isn’t. There are a number of people on here and others I’ve talked to that have made the switch to a 991 and overtime regetted it once the newness has worn off. Don’t get me wrong the 991’s are phenomenal cars, but there is a pureness and rawness that they lack compared to their predecessors. The only 991 that I feel has some of this character is the 911R. As a result even with a manual 991 GT3/RS’ can be boring to drive on the street as they really don’t come into their own until you push them. 997 GT cars as long as you’re willing to put in the effort to drive the it they are a blast no matter how hard you’re pushing.

997 and 991 are both great gens. 997's handle much much worse, crazy understeer which makes them more challenging to drive fast which adds a lot of character but also is annoying, kind of a plus and negative. The mezger is awesome as it's more vtec'y than the 991 and has honda accord level power below 4500, then it just turns into a wailing banshee beast from 5k to redline. The shifter shake/vibrations on the 997 is super epic, but the 991 is a little more clicky which is really cool too. Porsche imo is the only brand out there actually making better cars than what they used to produce imo
Audi, Ferrari, Honda/Acura, Toyota, BMW....no one really likes their cars anymore.....those are probably the collector brands atm as your collectible is not going to get replaced with anything....Porsche is making a zillion new cars that are arguably better than the old ones.

You really can't go wrong with either... I do think they will both degrade in value given Porsche is/has been in a euphoric vogue which never lasts and they are just pumping out WAY TOO many epic cars out of stuttgart and theres only so much garage space out there...

Buy a 997 or 991 because you want it, not bc what you think it will be worth tomorrow. They are AMAZING sports cars either way.

4.0RS - Too rare and almost impossible to replace. Rarely seen in the wild.

992 GT3, RS,and GT4RS - Not even limited production. Bunches will be on BAT sooner rather than later.

There are 157 992 GT3 for sale on Autotrader today. That shocked even me GT3 for sale
