Looks like a really nice car. Perfect amount of miles to keep driving, tons of records, clean DME. And a fair price too.

I will say that I haven't called to confirm the nature of the story on this particular example, so maybe the car wasn't wrecked and has a clean title.
Yes, it's a salvage titled car from a wreck back in 08 i think. Fender and door were replaced. Looks like a fun driver but the damage and high miles make $98k seem pretty steep. Thoughts??

way overpriced, IMO. It's probably worth $70k at best with that mileage and "sandwich" title, realistically. also, if it was totaled in 2008, the car likely had more damage than a fender and door replacement.

yea with supply chain issues the salvage title industry has exploded this year… but I just don’t think I’d spend a dollar on it. Even if just for track that’s still thousands on top of the car… so get a solid car, at 70k a certified gt350R would be a good choice imo. Drola had a pretty hard time selling his 7.1 and it was perfect… at least his flooded RS was almost new.

I wouldn't do it, but I can see someone sending this straight to to Fremont to get the Shark treatment.

I think people should remember LOTs of GT3s out there with very low basis. I sold my 07 in mint condition for 89k in 2018...

Therefore thousands of folks who would be happy to sell their 997.1 for 100k, or 997.2 for 120k if required.

Sold my 997.2 RS in 2020 for 130k....

Sold another 997.2 RS in 2018 for 110k

Seeing this phenomenon in my professional life, fast sales happening below "market" from last 2 years. People who need liquidity ahead of the storm

Considering that there were less than 1,700 997 GT3s (not including the RS models) delivered to North America I think it's a bet of stretch to say there are "thousands" of owners out there willing to dump these cars to get out of them.

I'm still baffled by this deal. Didn't that dealer give you more than what you paid for your car which would put them close to $130k?

Exactly! Sold my 2010 GT3 in 2015 for 115K and my 2010 GT3 RS with 4k miles in 2020 for 200K. Would love to have sold them this year!

Yup…still don’t understand the Dealers thought…unless they didn’t think they could get more than the 150 on the RS, that or just severely mispriced current market. Vin got a Steal tho…..so good for him!!

Well if anyone sees a nice 997.1 or ,2 (non RS) pop up for around 100k let me know. I don't mind miles but i want a clean title.

I understand & agree with your last sentence. But the one highlighted baffles me a bit too. Regardless of what someone bought theirs for (lets say 3-4 yrs ago or longer),.. why would they be happy? to underprice their car by (lets say...) $40k or more below current Market levels? ... is the answer; "just for a quick sale" ?

I get your point that there are some low basis owners out there (but certainly not "thousands"),.. who "might" need some quick cash due to a life situation, .... and maybe the feeling of having liquidity is great,... but this inflated market pricing is in EVERYONE's heads right now,... so I just don't quite clearly understand your point there. Maybe the 2 key words in your sentence is "if required". ... otherwise I'm needing more clarification to better understand your view point.
