If you planned on taking a car like this and putting it in a museum state why wouldn't you do it with a car with full leather and maybe some cool cosmetic touches?

Some of us would never understand. I don't see how you can purchase that car new and let it sit there, not driven for a decade. Would be impossible for me.

You're not thinking big enough. If this RS was just one of many other car purchases, it's possible to forget you had it. I have a friend that has this habit of buying up land and tractors. He has so many, he forgets what tractors he owns or if he ever bought a property he was eyeballing.

Journal Entry, April 9th. This marks day 84 of my search for a 997.2 GT3. I've been wandering around the country, money in hand, asking anyone I cross if they're selling a well maintained car. I've even communed with the mystic gurus of the P-car world to seek advice and insight. The sky grows darker every day. Will my resolve hold until the light breaks? The taunting from friends with fun cars grows and grows....

When the right car comes along - I do think it'll all be worth it. I'm wondering how long the average owner on Rennlist searches for a car? I'd say 3-6 months in a normal market if they're particular about spec. Given the current market, can maybe add a couple months onto that. Best of luck! We all want the same thing, for other enthusiasts to get into a 997 GT3.

Early days, could take months, even years to find the right example, at least that is how it is for me.
Good things come to those who wait.

Has been discussed various times over the past 6 months. Owner has been slowly increasing the price lately so it is consistently over market. Probably has no real motivation to sell it.

Plus, this is a mismatched spec where someone forgot to do all the deviated accents in black thus some of them are the standard orange. I don’t understand why the owner didn’t fix this as it looks off. Maybe wants to keep it original?

got a big kick out of your journal entry Burren. Your posts have a great sense of humor, and hopefully that transcends into a connection for your desired spec/car

no idea if my search was "average",.. but it did take me over a year (from Spring 2017 -> Fall 2018), but considering my spec was 1 of only 5 in NA,.. my search was probably an outlier.

Unless, you are looking for a museum piece, I would lower your standards a little. I was looking for that perfect car for a while until I got tired of waiting. I found a very nice driver’s car and I’m enjoying the hell out of it. These cars sold in small quantities. Life is short!!
