RS Ranger and Ur20v's comments nail it

There has been a growing throng of 991 GT3's at our track days recently and these are very special

their straight line speed is amazing and as RS Ranger puts it the technology is a step beyond our 997's

However, it is also true that the 997 is a more engaging experience all but if you want to go quick right out of the box then the 991 ticks the box.

I wont part with my 997 but I would like to add a 991GT3 (RS)

I see you're from Florida. Come to PBOC event at Homestead Jun 13-14. Lets have fun. My old technology vs. the playstation 991GT3.

Ha! I know how that works. Haywood smoked me at a driving school in a little boxster. Driver wins and the truth is I don't push my 997 or 991 anywhere close to 10/10ths. Heck, I don't even get lap times. I just have fun. I agree the 991 is much more insulating than the 997. The 997 has a full rss tarmac supension and I run Hoosiers as well. The car sticks.

That being said, the 991, added something that I didn't realize. It gave me mental bandwidth. While being amazed the first few sessions and how and when the pdks shifts, on the second day I found myself really able to focus on brake zones and the line.

Not that it is better, just different.

I plan to take my 997 to the track more often (lots more) than the 991. It's a heck of a machine.

I'll be at sebring on June 6 with chin. intermediate group.

I say you figure out how to afford both for a couple months. Decide after that which to sell.

I have a 991RS on order and I'm keeping my 997.2 RS because I've already had to buy this RS due to regret after selling the last.

I wouldn't pay a dollar more for a 2014 GT3. They are tainted by the engine recall and will continue to depreciate. Eventually it will be worth less than the 997 GT3.

More importantly it sounds like you're having a blast with your car. What do you think the 991 will do better? Sure it will be faster...but will it be any more fun?

If you're slow, you're slow. 991 won't change that.
If you were slow in a 997, you'll be slow or marginally faster in a 991.
If you were fast in a 997, you'll be MUCH faster in a 991.

I know my decision: I've yet to master (or even get to 70%) of my current car. "Upgrade" maybe makes me faster, does it make me a better driver? Not sure about that...

How many Atlas Gray GT3's were made? I bet you are holding the keys to a very rare car. I wouldn't let them go.

Don't trade, add. if you can't add, wait till you can... there will always be a better, faster flappy paddle GT3 going forward.

Fact is everyone is slow in these cars relative to their potential that DE them - if you want to win the DE a 991 will certainly accomplish that

Really tough question. Ideal would be to add vs. sell. I'm still trying to hold out for that myself.

I've driven the 991 GT3 a few times. It's truly awesome. Anyone that says it's not is on crack. If I had to choose though...well, check the my avatar.

Exactly and 2014 GT3s will be cheaper next year and the year after and will continue to depreciate to at least a few years...

for me, definitely not.

I know I will miss my GT3RS if I ever sell it.

I will not feel bad if I don't have a PDK GT3 as the next gen will be better and very easy to buy.

Not a chance. My 997-2 GT3 will be the newest Porsche in my garage for a very long time.

I've been spending quite a bit of time behind the wheel of PDK cars lately. The new Porsches are great but no way am I buying one.

Tough call the 991 is stupid fast, transmission shifts up and down are almost unbelievable and the interior is so much more modern. I'd say they are pretty different cars.

One day I will probably add a 991 to my 997.1

Keep it ...you'll regret selling it.

Like others, I also have a 997 GT3 RS and a 991 GT3. Love them both for different reasons but the 997 is much more special to me. If I had to choose one the 991 would have to go.
