Had in interesting exchange with my salesman today while confirming my deposit and position are still in place. He confirmed I was still good but said his phone has been off the hook with GT4 interest. I'm not surprised. I think the market for this car is a lot bigger than people (and even Porsche) think.

I only just recently (9 months ago) acquired my first P-car, a 2007 911 GT3. Prior to the Porsche, I had owned a large number of heavily modded Japanese imports and a most recently a well built E46 M3.
I had been watching 997 values for about 3 years and couldn't quite believe how fast they seemed to depreciate… I was basically waiting for the 997 GT3's to hit bottom and then I would swoop in and pick up my dream car. Well, that never really happened, thanks in large part to the 991. Sure the 997's continued to depreciate, but not the GT cars, they received what seemed like an overnight bump in price once the 991 GT3 in PDK only was announced.
So I bit the bullet and paid 100K CAD for my car this summer, 13k Miles, clean history, no over revs, and kept in immaculate condition. My only regrets; not buying one sooner, and not buying an RS![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
But I digress,
I have a deposit down for a Cayman GT4, at this point I am still not certain if I will follow through, depends on what the reviewers say, and may also depend on whether or not PTS becomes an option.
Is there cross over in the market between 997 GT3/GT4? I think so, but IMO the cars are not comparable. The 911 GT3 is a showcase for the Mezger engine, it's a gem, and IMO a major reason the values of GT3's will remain strong for the foreseeable future. The GT4 is an all-new play thing with a large number of unknowns; Will they build an RS? Will it be available repeatedly or be limited to one production run? Will it hold value well or possibly appreciate? etc.
I believe the full GT4 supply will be snatched up by a combination of existing GT car owners, and Cayman fanatics. Porsche GT and RS cars are in a world of their own right now due to price speculation, I am at this very moment keen to find a 997.1 RS, though not sure at what point the price will eventually force me to withdraw my interest. Given the condition of my car, I am sometimes tempted to build an RS copy that I won't feel guilty driving on a regular basis. I worry that should I find a 997.1 RS, it would be nothing more than a garage queen I wanted to share with future generations and other Porsche fans.
Mehhh… I certainly wouldn't consider selling my GT3 to make room for a GT4.
How about a couple pics of the M3 and the GT3, everyone loves pictures!

^^^ agreed
GT4 will negatively impact Cayman S and GTS new and resale values. Frankly, I don't know why anyone would buy a cayman gts.
The new 991 RS, if offered only in PDK will lift values for 997 GT3 and RS even further. The amount of overlap between 997 GT and GT4 buyers are minimal.

Aside from the rickety looking brackets, I think the fact that it's curved makes it look goofy. Needs to be straight...

I'm pretty excited about adding the GT4 to the collection.
The '10 GT3 is not going anywhere, still loving it like it was new....
LOL I guess that makes me the same customer

991 GT3 RS is not getting a manual shifter... won't happen.

GT cars are halo cars not profit centers and transmission options=higher overhead.
Driver involvement vs max speed are in two separate worlds today.
GT4=max involvement, 6mt only
GT3=max speed, PDK only
GT3 RS will be only PDK for this reason. And it will still sell out.

Wouldn't be nice to have both speed and involvement..........sad you can't have both.
