Are the 1.3 calipers really that bad, read something about it in the 1.3 forum. So they basically want you to take it to the dealer for a pad change??????

Pad change is remove all 4 Calipers and easy to strip uprights with stretch bolts.
Cup studs fix that but its just way to much work. Changing CL Wheels is a walk in the park compared.

Its what i will hate most On RS and Now they put them On the GT4

Yeah but changing brake pads is every 6 to 8 track days so no biggie. If that is the only wart then we are in good shape. Besides I doubt TRAKCAR changes his own pads.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I don't see the Cayman GT4 customer being the same as the GT3 customer.

I see the GT4 customer wanting to race in a spec series.

fundamentally its still a street car, will be interesting to see if they use this to homologate a race car variant for a (new) single marque series...

I'll believe it when I don't see it. My inclination is that all Caymans and Boxsters will be 4 turbos. The Carreras and Carrera 4s will be 4 turbos. The GT3 and "Turbo" will be small displacement 6 turbos, as will likely be the RSR/Cup powerplant. Only way I see the GT3 keeping it's classic NA 6 is if the RSR/Cups also get one. This is all dependant on their ability to meet CAFE standards and keep any 6s in the line at all.

Porsche had to go water cooled because of external circumstances beyond their control. They might have to make 4s for the same reason. If they sell too many Carreras and upset the balance for the CAFE standards, it will not be a choice. And where is the discussion and rumours about the turbo 6s? We've been hearing about turbo 4s for several years. 991s have been seen testing at the ring with turbo 4s in them. If they are working on a turbo 6, where's the press gossip on it? This is a genuine question. I'm always open to learning.

But my remarks about the motivation of the Cayman GT4 stand regarding the racing homologation. This lets them keep racing a 6 in the Cayman long after the street car no longer has one.

That is much needed. Now get that GT350 and run the **** out of it so I can make a decision. Waiting till 2016 is going to try my patience.

They've cited this as the reason. I can't recall where I've read it, it was a German publication. They want a good car in the GT4 class, and wanted to use the Cayman.

I love the support we get from Rennlist. Yes our cars make more a bit more power than the GT4 and either that car or our car can be retrofitted by us with the 991 Power Kit. I don't see big weight savings on our car so that's the same as well. While I now take lunch next to the ledge given the official release, I understand that the GT4 badge, the warranty, the goodies and the fact that it's a PMNA car will slow us down substantially...maybe to a screeching halt. Thanks to good folks that followed our racing and supported us when others wouldnt, I feel like i'm not totally without a lifeline.
Now, step off that ledge and figure out a way to shove the GT3 engine in to a GT4...
