Trying to get an idea how much longer will they(rears) last when the wear holes are gone?

So glad I'm stocked up on those RA1s.

My understanding is that once the wear holes are gone, you are on the edge of cording. I haven't tested out myself to confirm, though. I just swap to new ones anyway at that point since the grip has dropped off at that point for me as well.

Replacement when corded, a little corded is still faster than a new set.

Their is actually about 2 mm left in the hole...the tires aren't mounted now. Just wondering if it was even worth putting them back on. If they won't even make a full day there's no need.
Wish I had the option to swap to new ones...dang 305's are still on back order.

That seems to be the party line/what most people say. Interestingly, that hasn't been the case for me. This last set of NT01 definitely dropped off in grip once the wear holes wore away. My logged lateral Gs dropped from peak sustained of 1.2-1.3G down to 1.1G. I do drive up to the track with these things, so maybe they've been heat cycled out? I had about 30 track heat cycles in them.

I have to get in 4 track days on my trip next week. This is the worst pair. The other pair I have has one day less use than these. Only have two set of wheels to work with.

^^ that's what my tires looked like. I showed them to my buddy, Ben, and he said that I would only last 1/2 track day before the cords show. I've got a fresh new set on now.

I had the same experience as Joe...when I was down to 2mm or less the grip went away and the car was sliding around more. I also drive to the track with the tires on the car.

Paver, curious to know what you think of the grip on the tires at this point? Still good, or degraded? Do you drive to the track on them?

the pair in the pictures has been unmounted for over 2 months...best I remember the last session on them was good. I got into 1:38's at Barber on both days of the last de I used them for. That was a personal best for me. I removed them so I could sell the wheels they were on.
I don't drive to the track. It's a long drive and subject to pop-up showers.

Thanks. This makes me think that those of us driving up to the track and on the street with these tires on do sacrifice some tire life via heat cycles.

Joe,
This it what the better pair I had looked like on (I'm pretty sure) their 14th day. I was at VIR...got my fastest lap that morning when it was relatively cool, but got w/i .01 of it on the last session of the day in the heat. So, I believe in the good til the last drop theory. I would have left them on until cords showed but it was end of day and made more sense to go ahead and take them off. The street driving you mentioned must take some of the life out of them.

Thanks! Good to know!
