Shaping up a new-to-me 07 GT3
#1321
With his help in critical areas, he has made it possible for me to drive my, similar 2007 GT3, without requiring any outside help for over 70K miles, except suspension alignment. These GT3s are the last of the Mezger production years, and among the last to repair without help.

I recommend to all who have a desire to maintain their GT3 without expensive mechanic help to read Tom's Posts, and if you are also interested in track improvement mods, he is the man!

There's someone selling a used Motec CDL3 dash on ebay. No affiliation to the seller. Found it by doing a search on ebay since I was curious on the supply chain of this product. By doing a google/shopping search it appears that a new CDL3 dash can be purchased for just a little bit more than the used one.

I haven't done much this year because of no time and space.
Going to have updates and some new parts for 2023.
Here's the link for the 991 thread- https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...racing-10.html

I continue after all these years of Tom's posts and the extensive amount of information for fixing, repairing after track accidents, improving performance in every way that I am aware of, and it goes on and on about how much I have appreciated Tom's expert instructions.

997.1 upright difference
I have decided on staying with using front uprights from the 996/997 car generation because I don't have the time to sort out any potential 991 wheel speed sensor/ABS issues with such a conversion. As far as 996/997 front upright go here are my options-
1) 997.1 GT3 with PCCB/RS - available new
2) 997.2 GT3/RS- unavailable new, with no estimated available date
3) 997Cup - temporarily unavailable
So should I go with option #1, #1, or #1....its one of those situation.
For you entertainment I have a few different 996/997 front uprights laid out for a photo shoot. May be you guys will find it interesting to see the differences and similarities.
Upper row from left: 997 C4/Turbo/Turbo S , 996 GT3/Cup , 997 Cup '07-'13 , 997.1 GT3 w/ PCCB/RS
Lower row from left: 996 RSR/997 Cup Grand Am spec , 996 Cup World Challenge spec
Same lay out at a different angle.
Here's the differences of the steering rod-to-axle height between the GT versions. This height affects steering during suspension travel(aka bump steer).
Here's the difference of the LCA ball joint-to-axle height. This height affects vehicle roll center.
Here's my new front uprights. They are 997.1 GT3 with PCCB/RS version. Hope to find time to install them next week.
Got these sweet brackets from Stoptech to transfer my Stoptech Trophy brakes. They beautifully machined and fit perfectly. Love true bolt-on with no machining on my end!

Any advise on the difference between the 997.1 pccb (997341158-94) vs 997.2 (158-95) front uprights?
As i require a right front but not sure if the geo for the 95 is the same as the 94.
Thanks.

Oh BTW, any shop that had claimed that they directly bolted on 997 Cup version on a .2 GT3/RS/GT2 street car with OEM ABS is completely full of something because the sensors don’t interchange. I have only done the sensor conversion mod twice in my career, which involves precisely drilling a hole on a perfectly good upright and then welding on a custom machined mounting platform to securely bolt down the different type sensor with a tolerance of +/- 0.1mm for the sensor to acquire proper wheel speed signal. I would not do the sensor mod again, unless for absurd $.
