As far as batteries go, Braille AGM battery is a good cheap option. I have Braille AGM 21 lb. in mine and so far happy with it. Stock Moll batteries have been weighed at 44-49 lb. (people posting online pics on different scales). So approx. 25 lb. savings.

Since it sounds like yours may be a track-only car, you can go even lighter - they go all the way down to 6.9 lb. Will definitely need a battery maintainer whenever the car's not running, however. As a matter of fact, PM fellow rennlister MJSpeed. He is selling a brand new 11.5 lb. Braille AGM.

Braille also makes LiON batteries as others mentioned. Great but much more $$. Odyssey and Voltphreaks are also very good options. Some people swear by Voltphreaks.

Oh, and great thread.

From what I could gather the voltphreaks LION and the Braille LION at similar price points, they both weigh about the same (10-12lbs), the VF is smaller profile-wise but would need a mount to fit, the Braille fits in the stock mount and is a direct fit/drop in, the Braille has a higher AH rating (25AH I think for the direct fit option, real AH, not LI AH), but the VF has that nice auto-shut down feature which the braille does not have. Both are somewhere around $1600, and have much, much higher capacity than an AGM of similar size or weight.

Just ordered a Voltphreaks VPH900. I think the rennline battery hold down will work, waiting for Tony to confirm and will get that as well. The 750 is $899 and the 900 is $1199 on their website. Substantially cheaper than on Rennline or others...

Agreed. I was just giving OP some options since he asked about light weight battery advice. Absolutely no doubt that LiON batteries are superior.

However, similar weight AGM batteries are less than 1/8 price of LiON ones. So... is the price premium of admittedly superior LiON batteries "worth it" to OP? I have no idea - only he can answer that, though looking at his thread I'm inclined to think that a few-several hundred dollars won't affect his decision process much.

Ya know how it goes.... 10 lb. (or whatever) savings from a track car is great, but does it necessarily have to cost thousands if the driver can shed the same pounds for "free"?

If OP was looking for the greatest and best option, no doubt at all that he should get a LiON battery. I'm just letting him know of other options in case he is interested, that's all.

p.s. Oops, too late (I type slowly when I've been sipping single malt scotch!). You'll be very happy with it, OP. Best wishes.

We're pushing, things keep pushing back (bolts from germany with 3 week leadtimes, 24 hour races, etc...)

Will get it out and done right!

Will update the other thread as well...
LOL....24 hour races, etc....I know I know. Installing the damper is actually not that bad, keep us posted, I know you will.

LOL. But a driver weight loss program isn't as fun as buying cool car bits! Anyway, AGM is a good choice, especially for the price.

And the driver is 6ft 175. Could be lighter, but not by 30lbs!

I run the VF and use the cut out when leaving the car for extend time- ran the switch up to the removable trim piece/cap by the drivers wiper blade....very handy! Tony is good to deal with. To make the battery secure I used Velcro and some hard foam- it can't go any where in any direction. Made my own battery cables as well after buying cheap ebay crimper and nice high grade cable and ends to suit.

looking forward to testing the damper on a standard 3.6 which will be a good delta compared to a built lump you are doing.

I like Velcro and foam, post a pic when you get a chance! I'm pushing to get the dampers finally done. We're using my old 3.6L on the engine dyno to test the damper and demonstrate the elastomers are in the correct rpm range!

No worries, my VA tests will hopefully just concur your tests- good to have pier corroboration!

I will post photos next week, note I run the KW lift kit so I have a pump etc there so it looks different to OEM under the plenum but you will get the idea ...

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Started her up this past Saturday, unfortunately my phone was dead and Charles' phone was full, so no videos yet. I'm going to try and make it back up there this week to see it and get some video for you.

Finishing up the headers, doing a head to head of our setup vs. M&M's headers on the dyno as soon as the car is broken in.

Also checking K&N airfilters vs. Amsoil cone filters in our dual cone filter airbox...

Charles is going to keep the car this week to check for any leaks, drips etc... and to change the oil after breakin...
