You're getting lots of solid advice here, especially from Dell. I'd buy from a fellow forum member who has taken care of their car (and actually driven it,versus parking it as a garage queen) anytime before a purchase from an obscure online seller/dealer. There's nothing wrong with mods that improve these cars for the track, but these bling bits are a bit goofy IMHO. (Taste is a personal thing I know...) I could anticipate that it would be easy to spend a substantial amount of bucks post sale to fix some of the issues that might show up with that supposed "deal". I personally would see the car in person absolutely have a PPI and DME before proceeding. Little too much like rolling the dice on some of these if you purchase sight unseen IMHO.

What about Mooty's friend's car????

I know you are new here but any advice I ever got from Mooty was spot on.

Good luck and there are very good cars out there so be patient. I found mine at an F dealer in Chicago last year (trade-in) and car had only 19K miles and no over revs........... (38.5 mph avg speed over the life of car) and bought it for $72K.

72k is a great deal; I emailed Mooty's friend but he hasnt responded back to me yet. There's a slight chance I may go back to a TT; but a newer model TT.

If you consider a TT you should buy one.
But you said you wanted to track the car?

First one is definitely overpriced. 2nd one is awesome. Probably still has new car smell. I do wish these dealerships quit quoting me prices other dealerships are asking for equivalents since asking price is never actual selling price. arg. If only cars that sell have a price record attached to them like home sales where you can look at how much the house last sold for.

joseph at RPM sources some of the best car out there. one of few places i would buy sight unseen.

also, his list price is very very close to selling price. he doesnt care if the cars dont sell. some cars sit there for YEARS. i believe he owns them out right, not on flooring fees.

a truly cherry .1 RS is a 100k car.
a car just sold here at $105-110, less than 5000 miles.

when a RS goes below 90,000, i worry something may be wrong.

Getting good advice from forum members (Dell, Mooty and others). Regardless of what the dealers, owners tell you it is to your benefit to get your own PPI after settling on price and refundable deposit pending PPI. Just my 0.02c

A tracked car can save you a lot because it comes with all the stuff you have to buy yourself later. Just do a good PPI, if it has no overrevs there is not much track wear that can affect a GT3, clutches are not wearing from track use and if you have a real bad hack that can hurt the clutch it's $2500 installed and the car likely has overrevs IMHO.

Personally if you are not picky on the particular car and i want to get it cheap I would prefer a track rat that had clear bra in the right places, no paintwork, no overrevs for less money and more track ready stuff, you will easily save the cash for replacing wear items and you are going to track it anyway.
Exactly especially your comment regarding KBB.

I would have a purchase agreement done up that identifies the deposit and the terms.

If you don't feel comfortable with that, there are many of us here that I have no doubt both parties would trust to be a go-between and hold the deposit.
