current discussion of 997 GT3 pricing is kind of like discussing the value of your 401K/IRA in August 2008. There's a big event coming that will change everthing. Namely a new GT3 that will make all the others slower. A guy who can swing the high current pricing of a used 997 GT3 can swing the check for the 991 GT3 bump up -- rates are nearly negative and the stock market is higher than ever. Ideal conditions for a new model upgrade.

Now couple that with the fact that most 997 GT3 drivers sell their pampered cars nearly pristine with low mileage, and you have an impending spike in the supply of pristine, mass produced 997 GT3s. Buyers will have the luxury of being choosy, the opposite of the current market now.

The new automatic GT3 will open up the pool of GT3 buyers to those only interested in automatic Porsches -- The Cayennification of the GT3. Most new GT3 buyers are going to chase the 991 GT3, since most current and future GT3 owners don't care that they'll no longer have the chance to heel/toe. And once the new GT3 is beating all the old stuff on Sundays, it might get boring for enough 997 GT3 getting point by that they decide to increase the supply of 997 GT3's for sale.
Money is cheap at exactly the right time for an all new GT3.

Except its not à GT3. It's a GTS and even with free money $140k is silly. Watch 997Gt3 Go Up, White 991gt3 Will take an industry average depreciation hit while new ones sit 3 deep at the dealers.

It's true.... Ultimately, the ones that are raw and less "mass friendly" and more involving are more special. Thank god we still value the "human" connection. Porsche cars are always about "instinctive connection" with the driver. It is happening on the Ferrari side. People value and seek what they call "three pedal cars" ( i really don't care for that word, but that is ok) over the F1 transmission, whatever model. The purist drivers do. And, I have to say, Porsche seem to have a lot of those drivers, probably more than Ferrari does (sadly so).

Agree with most of what you say, but the 991GT3 is by no means no a GTS. The 991 3 does not presently have pedigree, however, it likely will. I am not pushing the car as I own a pristine .2 white 3. I have been offered very good money for it and am having difficulty letting it go as much as I believe the new car will be remarkable, although less fun to many.
