Texas Two Step...pics n vids
well its been a fun and interesting weekend in texas, along with a ton of laughing and almost crying from laughing when hanging with my euro buddies.
starting with TWS, i have to say that its truly a hidden gem and a track that everybody should try once in their lifetime. big thanks to rennlisters vons and mglobe for setting it up. now when you pull up to the track, its looks like an old western movie with the deserted town with tumbleweeds blowing across. the grandstands are condemned and the track surface doesnt look the best, but after the 1st lap we understood why people love. we stayed out for 18 laps the 1st time out and would've kept going until randy put his arm out to pit.
my camera died on my fastest lap before we left but here is a vid of a 1:53. i cleaned it up and got down to a 1:52.7 with only a half a day of being there...fun times
i havent driven in 8 months but i was up 1-0 on randy after track one

then comes COTA where we were all excited to really get to. the 1st day was actually more frustrating b/c no one knew where to go and what they were doing. then we're trying to figure out gearing and brake points, turn points etc etc... then the corner workers made it worse when they would throw a red flag every session just for a car that was off track. nobody had seen this before at a DE, and we would get 2 laps, a red flag, then black flag all. i have video of one of them. day 2 of course gets better with times coming down and nick myself and randy all at 2:31's on toyo's. the battle was on and entertaining at the same time. however, day 3 came and i had a power steering line leaking and was never able to make it out so i loaded up and watch the guys come in faster and faster with 50 degree temps in the morning. greek ran 29 flat, kyrocks 27.5, and randy drove steves car on hoosiers and did a 27. this track LOVES the softer tire like slicks and hoosiers. i see why the F1 guys are so fast on the softer compound. overall the track got better to me each day when initially i was very impressed, but its a fun track on sticky tires and im really glad i made the trip. just not excited about the 16hr tow home. here are some pics and vids of the weekend

nothing crazy fast but a couple laps here. i got down to a 1:31.6 before i had to pack up and miss the 3rd day
being blinded by the sun the 1st session
here was thee red flag issues we were having. as you can see the 1st red flag actually comes out as my head is looking left through the turn, dont know how nick missed it

TWS looks flowing and fast. COTA looks like long straights, hard braking and slow corners. Thanks for the video's...smooth driving like you just drove last week!

Several corners definitely slow enough for second...
My clients who used SimRaceWay personal coaching and my track guides for prep did great! Sounds like everyone had a good time.
Thanks for the photos and vids!

Thank you for posting Mike!! At least have a bit the feeling like I know what it looks like. I appreciate it!
You really enjoyed those red flags LOL. Did you tally up the cracked rotors?
NASA is even more brilliant; they did it to practice and see if people would know what red flag meant, my students Mustang's engine cooked over never to start again and both front rotors cracked. kid could barely afford to be there that day...

Dez, yup and luckily the young kid Blake that works with Goldcrest was out there. He did all he could. Big thanks to him and for Goldcrest sending him out there. He was helping anybody and everybody
Yea I played with both 2nd n 3rd gear. Crazy part was that my shifts for 4th n 5th were in the same place
Peter, my frustration was boiling over by then. Lol
