when I swapped my 981S for a 7.2 GT3, the cost to change was a mere £4000 less than it would have cost to get a 991 C2S Cab with some nice options (built to my spec) and a list price of £100,000. The 7.2 GT3's price was £83,000.
just shows how much discount was available on the 991 ...

Exactly and the long term prospects are freightening. Throw in really low short term interest rates to finance it and that $120K+ 991 suddenly looks alot more affordable on a monthly basis. Not many drivers outside of forums like this understand much less care about a Mezger versus a 9A1, etc...until they see zero money down and an $1800/mo. car payment verus stroking a check for a $100K+ for a GT3. The shiny brochure doesn't mention much about Financial Engineering but that is just as important as all the other forms of engineering if the mfg's. want to hit their sales target numbers.

Same here, I dont know prices or details of the 991. Played with the configurator, had some sticker shock, drove one a few miles on the street and wrote it off as a potential car for me until the RS arrives.
Those times are gone.
Same here, pleople know a deal when they see one..

Hi Peter,
I agree - Porsche is playing with its repuation--the massive loss in used 991s values - will not be a problem so much in the short term - although, even that will have an impact. If it continues like that, what will 991 owners get in 5 years for their used 991 if they want to upgrade to 991.2..or a few years later - to a 992.
The 991 is destroying all 911 prices, except for GT3 and GT2..but dealers are telling me already that the 991 mentality is hitting these also..people are walking in the showrooms and asking whey so much discount is given on new 911..but not on a second hand GT3.
The sad thing is that these dramatic losses in value cannot be observed for panamera and cayenne..will the 991 be that last 911?
We will see..but I predict that the 991 cannot reverse thet trend of porsche becoming an sedan and SUV manufacturer..on the contrary I would say..it will accelerate the decline. I m curios to see how the 981 will do..I predict that it will do much better than 991 sales..

I test drove the 991S coming from a 997.2 S. It is more of a touring car now. I like the raw feel of a sports car and the 991S has been tuned to take out the sportiness (IMO). THere is a car for everyone, but for me, no matter how fast the 991S is compared to 997 GT3, is NO GT3. No matter how you configure it, it will not feel or drive like a GT3. In the end I bought a gently used GT3 and am LOVING that I did not go for the 991S.

I drove a 991S on Sebring. Was fast as hell. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but it's a better car than the .2 997's for sure. I'd say with the proper tires it would keep up with my .1 GT3.
Sign me up for a used 991 GT3 PDK at a significant discount in about 3-4 years

I will wait to see the details of the GT3 and even if a dressed up 2wd C4S (GTS) than I will still see what they will do with RS. Plenty of opportunity to fix the beautiful 991. But it must be special special to command $50K over for example the Viper because at $165K - $175K there's a lot of options for our hobby. I think we will never see 3.8 GT3RS.2 under 100K. Inflation has arrived, the Euro is not going down..
