unlikely as 7.2 3/RSs are now mostly in the hands of enthusiasts rather than those who must have the latest toy as they are all at least over 2 years (RS) and 3 years (3) old now.

We'll agree to disagree. Same thing happens with every new model. Hence the reason you can get a 996 GT3 for 45k now.

I think we tend to think of all GT3 owners as being like minded because of the microcosm on RL where everyone is a track star.

Go to the cars and coffee meets. Tons of show and shine GT3's that have never seen an autorcross let alone a track. Those guys will dump their cars as fast as Izzone drinks beers to get the latest greatest.

Just a fact that I learned a few minutes ago.

I asked my broker how much are the .2 RSs going for at auction right now ??

Answer: There is none in our area.
Regular GT3s between 3K-8K miles from mid 90s to low 100Ks....

That's crazy !
There is no way you can sell an .2RS for less than 120K in this market specially with a 991S costing 110K average.

I agree. Cars and Coffee guys will move to the new platform. Track guys will move too if the car is faster. 3.8l, 500bhp, and 7 speed PDK with a couple hundred less pounds of weight... Trakcar will be the first in line.

That's when I'll pick up a lightly used 3.8 RS for under $100K. Say 2015 or thereabouts.

Clean no damage cars the last 24 months:
04-05 996 GT3 stuck at 45-50K
07-08 997.1 GT3 stuck at 70-80K
07-08 997.1 RS stuck at 85-100K
10-11 997.2 GT3 holding at 95-100K
10-11997.2 RS holding at 115 - 135K and been going up with very limited supply.

With the 996 Gt3 and 997 stuck, there is no room to go down for the models above, except the 2011 4.0 and it has been going up the most...

The 2014 991 GT3 is $150 real money the 2015RS 175 real money.. Unproven might be straying form the concept might make the 997's go up. Or it might be fantastic and the 997's wont go up too much. TRAKCAR will be watching till say 2017 to see how all this new stuff holds up against the competition.

So lots of room to go up, no room to go down.

08-09 GT2's been going up, 2011 GT2RS are not coming down and we are in the off season...

Unless the demand in GT3's goes away for track junies there will be no change.

Of course they're not selling. Duh... There's no replacement out yet.

Why would you sell the car you have if there if the new version isn't available yet?

So you are willing to wait 3 years to save $15-20K if anything at all on a 3.8RS

cause the new GT3 might be a GTS replacement not an RS replacement. the new RS remains to be seen but is still 2 years away and in 2 years we will see car prices go up so much that the current RS will look like a steal at $125K.

So.... A GT3RS is now an investment? Good luck with that

Price doesn't matter in this crowd. Porsche owners (myself excluded) are generally not worried about their budget. Hence the reason you pay full price for a 4.0, if you can find one. Or the fact that they blow out 180k Panamera TT's like VW golfs.

Porsche builds it. They will buy it. So it went up 10-20k? Big deal. It's not going to turn people away that want the latest greatest.

My point is that you could buy a 2010 GT3 for low 90s about 6 months ago. Can't find that anymore. Prices went up on the newer cars.
Prices even went up from last year for 997.1 GT3. I saw a some in the mid to high 60s.

Exactly. There will be plenty of discounted 997.2 RSs this fall.

Call it inflation protected fun
They are cars for purist and track junkies. Seems like they were the last, but we will see how the new RS turns out. They all have a budget.

I cant care less what panamera's or 991's are doing. Zero interest.

As small as the GT3 circle is, it should come as no surprise that a large majority of GT3 owners do not post on Rennlist - many haven't even heard of it!

I did the track thing with the 996...I'm more of a show and shine with the GT3 nowadays. Bone stock.
