Dream on and enjoy your GT3.
I dont think many RS owners will jump on the GT3 wagon. The RS will tell but that is another year down the road.

Five years from now everything will be a hybrid/alt fuel combo of some sort. Our cars are the last of an era.

No, maybe not but they did buy up all the .2RS!

Off course I could be completely wrong, just my 0.02c, I'm not in the car business.

I look forward to look back at these threads in the next 2 years

Could not care less about the 918..
Maybe the RS will be a GT3 Hybrid with extra electric HP through the front wheels. Be glad to point them by.

Happens every generation, every update. My favorite is looking back when all the air cooled guys roared that the 993 is the last true Porsche...only to find out they're already on their 5th waterpumper...

and that the 993 still probably one of the most valuable of the 'modern' Porsches.
They were right in this matter.
Always will be a newer and better, but doesn't mean that's what you want the car to be.

Yes, I don't need a 3.8l RS, so I have no problem waiting for the inevitable price drop with the spec I want.

It will happen, over 500 made for the US market, I like those odds.

Big difference between good protection against depreciation (less than average depreciation) and an investment. I think the 7.2 RS will depreciate less than others. Think about an '04 6.2 GT3. It is almost 9 years old and still commands $45 - $50K. That's pretty damn amazing considering all the choices people have with $50K. I feel the 7.2 RS will be in line with this.

I agree with Trakcar for the hardcore market and DDog for the latest/greatest C&C market. Overall, high sales of the 991 GT3 will do well for the entire GT3 market. Rising tide, all boats float.

Have you seen used 993 prices go down much since +/- 2000?

You call 10-15K in 3 years a price drop

Well said.
Lost $23K on my '07 GT3 in 2008. I thought that was the most fun per dollar i ever had and by far out performed the DOW in 2008 LOL.

Sometimes you just need to be lucky..

It will all depend on the specifics of the 991 GT3. Will it be just a tarted-up C2S (I like the Carrera GTS anaolgy) or something really special? Sure it will be faster. But faster doesn't always mean better - or else we would all have a GT-R.

I predict the 997.2 GT3 and GT3RS will become even more scarce and desirable.
But who knows.

And, from what I've seen, the 997.2 Turbo S with the non-Mezger engine isn't exactly a big hit. If the 991 GT3 uses the same engine as the basic C2S will it suffer the same fate?
