No clutch pedal. Button on center console reads "Emergency Gear Box". So it has two gear boxes. One for emergencies. The bad one ejects and the new one drops into place.

Seriously, I bet it's a PDK box.

CHRIS HARRIS MEETS PORSCHE R&D CHIEF
Wolfgang Hatz quizzed by Harris on diesel V8 Panameras and the return of the Mezger flat-six in the RSR
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...?storyId=26798

Single stud wheels are a problem, will you stop providing them?
"We will continue with that. I know with the GT3 we had to modify the torque rating and we changed to new nuts with 600Nm, and if you run the car on the race track, you will eventually have to change the hubs every 15,000km."
But people forget and then you have problems.

"But if you use them properly, it works. We will continue to provide this system."

Lovely RSR photos just shown. Is it true that the RSR and Cup car will usethe old Mezger engine and not the new DFI motor?
[Grimacing] "I know where the photos were taken and I don't know how they did it. We want to participate next year [the next day Manthey were announced as running factory 991 RSRs at Le Mans 2013] and, yes, the RSR and Cup will use the old engine. It is very reliable and strong and it does a good job and in the Cup it will be 3.8 litres. It was an easy decision."

^ First time that the 15,000km servicee interval with CL's came out. PAG you have such a brilliant way of disseminating pertinent info via journos and not direct with owners. Fecking brilliant, you.

Does that mean the new 991 GT3 / RS will have the Mezger engine? (Since you would need that homologation to race the Cup / RSR)

wow
- new wheel hubs every 9,000 miles
- never mind the safety issue
- or, a one-time change to 5 lugs + new wheels
- and, i will guess that it is too late to change the 991 cars because it will be admitting the disaster they created for 997 cars - and the lawyers will point out the liability
- total complete fvckup

And
- the 3.8 Mezger lives on
- so, what does that say about the upcoming 991gt3 with 20" CL wheels and the 'new' DI engine?
- I wonder if it isn't better to kill the GT3 and just release the RS in 2014

Porsche made a HUGE mistake with the road car Center Lock system. I'm suffering through with mine and worried a lot about it.

Porsche is making an unbelievable mistake by using the older Mezger engine in the race cars and putting the 9A1 DFI engine in the street GT3 cars. Porsche needs to pick a engine and use the same one in the GT3 race and street cars.

I don't believe they are allowed to do that, hence my comment.. (unless they still have a few years left on the homologation..) If the race cars are confirmed to have the Mezger, it means the road car (whether it is the GT3/RS or just the RS) would have them too...
