Default Expert advice needed: GT2/RS vs. GT3/RS

Fellow members, please guide me. I am a longtime 911 and 993 Turbo owner, including some of the best from DP Motorsports, Gemballa and RUF along the way. I have not owned a Porsche in the past eight years. I want to purchase either a GT2, GT2RS, GT3 or GT3RS. Here is the help that I'm after:

I will only use this car on the street, never to track. I won't push it nearly to its limits. I do want something that is very unique (see history above), doesn't have back seats or a sunroof, and feels more like a cocoon than the standard 997's. Price is not a consideration.

So, what is the best of these choices (model and year and even options) for simply a fantastic street Porsche that won't be too unruly to drive but will really stand apart?

Thank you very much for your insight.

Michael

Agreed, those are the two most exclusive 997's

Thank you both. I will take as much input as the community is willing to offer. Neither of these are too track-oriented to be enjoyable street drivers?

They are both street cars
And the most exclusive which sounds as if that is what you want
If price is not a consideration, might I suggest you get one of each and try them for a while and sell one once you decide which one is the one for you

surprisingly the 4.0 supposedly has the best ride of the GT3's. I don't know from personnal experience although would be willing to try one if someone wants me too. Noise may be a concern for street use as the GT3's are not luxury car quiet. Not a big deal for some and bothersome to others. Can't speak for GT2 RS as I have no experience with them.

+1. 4.0 is amazing. Have not tried the GT2 RS but I have to imagine its top shelf. Where's Savvy. He's owned both.

I just got a 4.0 and considered a GT2RS.
Never drove a GT2, but I took the advice from several owners who owned both and all suggested the 4.0 for fun factor. Van overbeek drove both 3.8 and GT2RS and it the 2 was about 2 secs faster but he preferred the 4.0.

I also guess that the 4.0 will hold value better.

I have #455 2RS and have driven all of them, GT2,GT2RS,GT3, and GT3RS. I like them all but the real deal is the GT2RS. Try one and you will buy it. They are all special cars that can be street driven. Just my two cents worth.

I agree the choice other than real special stuff like Ruff 8's/12's etc is either a GT2RS or a 4.0, different to drive which will come down to personal preference. Don't worry about 'club sport' spec i.e. bucket seats (size/weight dependant lol!) and half cage, I have both and use the car as a daily drive and just love it.

Try and I'm sure you'll make your mind up in a blink and...er... buy both!!

4.0 RS has it all. Amazing power. Normally aspirated high revving engine with great sound. Superb handling and smoother than 3.8. Great looks. Exclusive, etc. I think it is perfect for street. Have fun!
